eration, Dr. Joe Rushing of Howard Payne College, Texas, was chosen as the first president of the college. Having arrived at the college, on April 8, 1960, Dr. Rushing proceeded to form a faculty, and with the aid and assistance of Dr. E. B. Lauderdale, Dean of Instruc- tion, and Charles H. Miley, Dean of Student Personnel Services, the selection of the teaching staff was completed. On August 22, 1960, the thirty-four member faculty met for the first time and planned the curriculum. It is the duty of the Committee to recom- mend to the County Board a person for the office of President of the College, and afterwards to work with the appointed president in almost all aspects of campus life. Without the aid of this important group of people, it would be impossible to lay even the foundations of such a col- lege as ours.
