Sincic assists Freshman Tom Hickman and jeff Nagle in one of his scheduled after-school Math sessions. 40 The past few years have seen a tremendous amount of progress made in the field of mathematics, progress which may eventually help man attain a better life for himself. Brother Rice has kept pace with this dynamic sub- ject, and while its goal may not be quite as noble, math still plays a significant role in thc students' curriculum. Presently, the Mathematics Department offers six different courses, ranging from a fundamental Algebra I to complex university Calculus. Trigonometry and An- alytical Geometry have been lengthened to a full year to intensify the study of their various aspects. Advanced placement courses have also been more highly empha- sized and now not only provide the student with an exciting challenge, but accustom him to increase his output to a quality which will aid the students in all future endeavors. The already excellent Math Department has ex- panded to a more qualified and experienced staff. Messrs. Kelly, Ohlhaber and Sincic arrived this year to add needed depth to this significant subject.
