5l!PfR SHISON! Determination and a will to win. Dedication plus hard work. This sums up the 1978 Brophy Bronco football team. In some cases it looked as if David and Goliath were battling since the Broncos, with Pygmy Mania support, continued to down larger and stronger opponents. In fact, the Broncos came out on top twelve out of thirteen. It was the first time in many years that the success of the gridders carried over to the student body. Both friends and foes of football cheered for a team that the critics felt was just plain lucky? Proved them wrong was what we did. How does a 10 - 0 regular season catch you, especially for a team mediocre at best? Central, St. Mary's twice, Cortez and Amphitheater were among the Goliaths which were slain. Everyone was out to get us, to put us where they thought we belonged. It took the state champions, Mountain View, to make us settle for- second best, one defeat. The Broncs came marching in this year and have every reason to be proud of themselves. Congratulations! Mike Sheedy 51
