Dick Baldwin Evolution of institution and individual Coach Dick Baldwin believes in and practices them. Coach Baldwin grew with BCC, from the experimental community college of the early fifties to today’s comprehensive campus. Baldwin taught English, acted as public relations officer, coached basketball, and now heads the athletic department. Personable, easily liked and admired, Mr. Baldwin believes that making the best effort is more important than winning, but developing sound personal relationships with his players su- percedes all. His coaching speaks for itself ... thirty-two years ... ten Region 3 titles ... the distinguished position of being the winningest active junior college coach in the nation — 715 wins, 219 losses. He has been through it all, not missing a game — “durable”, he termed it. Evolution leads to change or improvement. Baldwin envisions that the two-year education concept will play an increasingly more important role. He foresees the College expanding its offer- ings. He realizes that basketball is a year-round responsibility. The College, community, students, and the basketball squad have benefited from his talents. Baldwin’s outlook on his future ... there is always evolution, always change.
