It is our purpose to provide a one- year living record for the students and a medium through which the school may be presented to others. Yet we have tried to capture the motivating forces behind the accomplishments and advances this year , . . those people who have made Brookwood School a success. Dedication The annual staff would like to dedicate our first annual to everyone who helped make Brookwood possible. The first Brookwood annual, The Warrior, is dedicated to everyone who helped in making our school possible, It would have been unfair to dedicate The Warrior to just one person since so many have helped us. The annual staff would like to say a special thanks to: - Mr. Lyle - the Board of Directors - the Board of Trustees - the faculty - the parents - the students - to the many friends of Brook- wood . , Motto Our best today for a better tomorrow. Alma Mater Mid the pines there stands an emblem, Of the noble, true, and right, Lifting up her values ever, Hail to thee, the blue and white. Future years may bring us triumph, Days ahead may bring us paing But the memories of thy teaching, Ever with us will remain, We salute thee Dear Old Brookwood! We will e'er to thee be true, To the morals and the standards Of our own dear white and blue. The interested parents had their first meeting in November of 1969. This was the begin- ning. In May and June of last year, our first building began really to take shape, when the steel arrived, the network of plumb- ing, air conditioning, and heating equipment followed. The faculty had its first meet- ing in June of 1970, and Brook- wood obtained its charter on February 23, 1970. The first day of school was Tuesday, September 8, for orientation, registration, and purchasing of texts and materials. The visit to the Thomas- ville Public Library increased our desire to find new treasures in books, Our greatest project of the year was the play, Tommy's Adventure where Gene Strickland played the leading role. l 76 First Grade Enjoys Learning my Jill Harper Suzanne LeGette Jim McRae David Price Martha Singletary Melissa Smith Scott Vann Greg Vaughan Dena Williams Julie Willis Karen Worthington Class of 6619 99 The first graders part in the Halloween Carnival was to have a Fish Pond. We had some great prizes and the children fall agesy had fun. To celebrate Thanksgiving they had a play. It was their first play and everyone thought they did great. All the grades participated in the Christmas play and each grade sang one special song. The following day the first grade presented another play titled The Animal Christmas. A Dream Come True Many people felt that the first day of school at Brookwood would never come. A few people had vague hopes of creating a school that would increase in size and be a leader in the field of education, Through many people working long and tiring hours and battling many doubts, what seemed to be an impossible dream was finally created. Progress Being Made Getting ready for next year, new plans started to be made, On the top of the list was a new building to make room for the increasing enrollment, This building includes a gym, cafeteria and a number of classrooms, This is on ly a small step towards the expansion of Brookwood, but many more are sure to follow until Brookwood becomes one of the leading schools, QE' we T 1 F K , ' .1 e .
