FOREWORD Every year, each senior class tries to improve its yearbook. Therefore, it is only natural that we, the Class of 1956, should endeavor to make our ECHO different from, and yet better than, the ones that have come before us. Because the yearbook is put out by the seniors and will, perhaps, be the most treasured memory of their senior year, it is only fitting that we should concentrate on it. We have added features which we felt were important to the seniors and eliminated other sections. Then, too, we tried to achieve uniformity with our senior pictures. For the first time in the history of Brookville High School, our senior girls wore the same costume for their yearbook pictures. None of this would have been possible, however, without financial suppon from the businessmen and patrons. We give special thanks to them. Appreciation is also extended to the printers, photographers, and engravers for their co-operation. We especially thank our sponsors, Mr. Ruffner and Miss Clyde. We feel that our yearbook is a success and we hope that you, the faculty, the future seniors of B. H. S., the school administration, and our parents and friends will agree that we have produced something which we can look back upon with pride. 4

ALMA MATER We sing to Brookville High School, The high school on the hill. The name that spurs us onward And makes our senses thrill. Hail! We’ll never forget our classmates. Our happy high school years: We raise our voice in hearty cheer To the school each one reveres. We pray that time will greet us As ever kind and strong; Forever we'll be loyal And sing our joyful song. Hail! When from the field we wander. When youth has passed us by. E’en then with fleeting breath We’ll praise our dear old Brookville High. 3
