our favorite teacher As soon os we stepped into her cldss in the foll of IQ46, Miss Bertha Black, through hes quiet, easy way of doing everyday tosks, soon become a fovorite with her students. This auburn-haired teacher from IOP! is always willing to help anyone, whether the cause For dis- tress is an unlearned French lesson or a spli'ting headache, She is what is so often referred to :is Q friend in need. l-ler persistence with Le Cercle Francois has endeared her even more to the hearts of all who belonged to the club and all who learned of her efforts. Miss Black is usually of a serious disposition. She is a believer in the philosophy that school is a place to receive an education. The proof of tltar statement lies in the fact that those of us who took English or French froin her carrie out of her :losses with a solid background in the subiect However, when Miss Black starts to chuckle, no one is oble to keep from catching the chuckles, too.

We, the members of the class of nineteen hun- dred and Hfty, wish to dedicate our issue of THE ECHO to a member of our faculty vvhom we have admired throughout our high school years, Emily R. Pfaft. She has sincerely directed the learning of Brookville High School students along the lines of democratic principles as a Teacher and as heocl of the History department. At the present time Mrs. Pfafll teaches World History and Problems of Deniocracy. Many traits of character and personality have endeared Mrs. Pfaff to us. We will long remember her tireless devotion to duty, the true sense of values that she has set before us, her sincerity and willingness to help us ot all times, and her confi- dence in the possibilities of each of us, This dedication is only a small gesture of ap- preciation to one who is so faithfully serving society in a very noble profession. dedication
