ese re T e Times.. that try students' minds. The igno- rant will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their school, but he that endures it now deserves the love and thanks of the student body. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered, yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we ob- tain too cheap, we esteem too lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods, and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. . . from The Crisis , Thomas Paine fl776J 2lWhat's Happening FREE-FOR-ALL? Yes we arel Our country, our govern- ment, our rights and privileges are FREE FOR ALL. Each and every citizen of the United States is guaranteed the freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition by the first amendment to the constitution of the United States. These five great civil liberties protected by this are for us - to protect US. How- ever these rights must not be taken advantage of. Much re- sponsibility lies behind them. Freedom and responsibility go hand-in-hand. We here at Brookville definitely are heirs of great freedom. Just stop and think of the many privileges we are allowed. Dances, l5 minute break, choice of a great many of our classes, assemblies, a jukebox, places to purchase food and drinks, a voice in decisions concerning us . . . The list goes on. Yet, how grateful are we? How much do we value the liberties we do have? Unfortunately, we often wait until too late to appreci- ate the few articles of in- dependence that we do enjoy.
