Juniors Are Presented With Rings This year on December 16, the Ring Dance took place in the very beautifully decorated cafeteria. Many Juniors volunteered their time to help with the refreshments and deco- rations. The setting went well with the theme of the dance “Starry, Starry Night’. Many Juniors appeared with their dates to receive (and show off) their shiny new rings. They either sat down to relax with a cool cup of punch or danced their hearts out to the fan- tastic music of the Greater Experience. What a good way to start off the Christmas holi- days. x PaxY ees eS HRERLEKEREERREES Jack Cordier makes sure that he’s in the picture. The Greater Experience helped make the Ring Dance what it was. 20 Alfred Sweeney recommends the punch when visiting the refreshment table. Juniors enjoy themselves, dancing to the music of the Greater Experience. The theme chosen this year is Naturally, because it was thought to have described this year the best. Changing is very natural, and it happens every day. We have new and different problems to face each and every day. For the eighth grade, coming into school was a very big step. Since the first day at Brookville they have changes in many ways such as learning to study and take criticism as well as learning more social graces. By no means are we saying that this year the eighth graders were the only ones to change. The Srs. probably have the big gest change coming their way. The major- ity of the Srs. are now leaving high school to go to work and earn a living for them- selves. A very big change for the Srs. is that most of them will go on to college. The freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are also changing. They are growing and learning to accept more responsibility. Kenny Smith shows his artistic talent. 22 cgeyuvye 2 og ooree? : ° ° nee eooe? — Robert Wood takes his pick in the Drama play. Brookville students keep their distance since the water supply was cut off! Ike Wood makes his feelings known for his fellowman. Mike Reed instructs his classmates. There were not just changes in our school, but also in our home life, com- munity, church, government, and our personal beliefs. - Such changes in our govt. has also ef- fected the school. The people the ages of 17 and 18 were allowed to vote. The seven- teen year olds were allowed to vote only for the bond issue, but the eighteen year olds cast their vote for the leaders of our country. One of the more drastic changes in our school life might be brought about by the failing of the bond issue. Next year our whole school system may be changed to a year round or split shift which is said to be a very bad system for our educational programs. We have all learned to accept changes. It is a natural course for everyone and everything to change. 23 i ye ze a e ze cches me ’ ALINIVa Smiling from behind his paperwork, Mr. Brewer heads the Hive. Starting with the summer clinic and continuing through the season, the Bees were confident of defeating any opponent they faced. Under new head coach, Jim Whorley, the Bees blasted each Seminole District team they played. The memor- able E. C. Glass game proved to everyone that the Bees are a power here to stay. The Bees coasted through the remainder of the season unmarred by any defeat. In the regional game, Brookville overwhelmed Drewry Mason 22-0. In the final game of the year against Radford, the Bees were beaten but the season overall was filled with clean and exciting football that all Brookville fans and players should be proud of. Chip Perkey rambles around right end for another Brookville score. Bees pause for a moment of silence before the game. 122 Touchdown! BLrOOKRVINE prileipadl, dul Brewer, said early this morn- ing that tonight’s 8 o'clock game was still on and if the con- test was postponed until Satur- day, the announcement wouldn't ccme until mid-afternoon. The game is expected to at- tract more than 12,000 area foot- ball fans and Brookville officials might decide to wait until Satur- day night if the rainy weather figures to hurt attendance. The Bees are the home team, thus they have the right to call for a postponement. The Bees, under new coach Jim Whorley are 3-0 this season and are fresh off a 21-0 win over Amherst County. DEDICATED ED ID “ON THE Go?” Jerry Falwell, Jr. has a dad who’s energetic and always ‘‘on the go.” He always has been but not for the purposes he is now. When Jerry, Sr. was a student in your school he had other dreams and aspirations. He was an ’’A” student through grade and high school, graduating vale- dictorian of his class at Brookville, and went on to college to study to be a mechanical engineer. Then something tremendous hap- pened that caused Jerry to com- pletely change directions — he received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was called into the ministry. Little did Jerry know that, after his graduation from Bible college, he would be destined to build not only one of the world’s great churches, but also head the largest religious TV net- work in the world, ‘“Fhe Old-Time Gospel Hour.” Just two years ago Dr. Falwell saw another dream come true—the beginning of Lynch- burg Baptist College. Now, in its second year, L.B.C. and the Thomas Road Bible Institute have an enroll- Jerry Falwell, Sr. Jerry Falwell, Jr. ment exceeding 1200 students. Soon all new facilities will be built on Route 29 Sou th here in Lynch- burg, housing the many-faceted ministry. Jerry plans a new semi- nary, a home for the aged, and other far-reaching goals. So, when you see Jerry Falwell hop in the Convair 580 with his team for some faraway place, you'll know this man ‘‘on the go” had the cour- age to think big. To quote Jerry: ‘The only differ- ence between mediocrity and great- ness is vision.” THOMAS ROAD BAPTIST CHURCH e LYNCHBURG BAPTIST COLLEGE e THE OLD-TIME GOSPEL HOUR ELIM HOME FOR ALCOHOLICS e HOPE AGLOW PRISON MINISTRY e TREASURE ISLAND YOUTH CAMP THOMAS ROAD BIBLE INSTITUTE @ LYNCHBURG CHRISTIAN ACADEMY — Some of the expanding ministries of Dr. Jerry Falwell j 182 HERFF JONES the official School Jeweler for BROOKVILLE HIGH SCHOOL REED SCHWEICKERT local representative P.O. Besides, my mother will be pleased.” Thanx, David Glass HAVE A NICE LIFE McCARRON FLORISTS FOREST PHARMACY EDITHS FLOWER HUT TIMBERLAKE BEAUTY SALON ‘Balaton OF DIAMONDS WRIGHT’S BARBER SHOP 1124 Main St. Downtown Lynchburg THE HOME OF RED CARPET SERVICE You’ve got a lot to live Pepsi’s got alot to give seniors Enjoy Final Year Letters To Forum Senior Faces In The Crowd Game Report Of The News ‘Biased’ Editor of The News: Being the only public service newspaper of the Lynchburg area, surely you demand that your staff performs up to the top journalistic standards. Cer- tainly you require that your writers give a complete and ac- curate report of the news to the public. Yet, it seems that one partic- ular writer failed to present an objective and unbiased review of the E. C. Glass-Brookville football game. E. C. Glass received their re- ward in his article, and right- fully so, for they won. But the Brookville team was unmerci- fully slandered. On most occa- sions, it was the Brookville de- fense that caused Glass’s turn- overs. No credit was given to the outstanding Brookville de- fensive line. No mention was given of Brookville’s scoring threat within the Glass ten yard line. Such phrases as ‘‘when the chips were down, the Bees could not withstand the pressure’ ? and “then the Hilltoppers showed their superiority” are terribly unfair and unfortunately pre- judiced. Comparing it to a good article in The Daily Advance one wonders if the writers saw the same ballgame, because The News write-up presents an inac- curate picture of the real situa- tion. A football game is a minor event as compared to local, state, and national happenings. The revelancy of the article is that it has misled and mis- guided the public. One cannot help but wonder, in light of your duty to present facts, whether the local, state, and national news has been or will be given in all truthfulness and not in a prejudiced, biased manner. May Providence protect this na- tion from public brainwash. Your power is great; it must not be misused. KIM WOODFORD, Student, Brookville High School Seniors must instruct underclassmen on operating the voting machine. Seniors are always cleaning up behind underclass- men. Seniors lead final pep rally for football. In Lynchburg Shop eqgelt Your Happy Shopping Store Downtown Pittman Plaza Joan B.
