Whitten, “Slim”, president of Brookville Recreation Association, helps out by serving as score keeper. Expressing : me The nineteen sixty-five Annual. Staff would like to express its appreciation to the Brookville High School Recreation Association for the varied activities it has undertaken to improve the athletic department and the school spirit at Brookville. The Recreation Association was founded with the primary objective of obtaining lights for the football field. For a starter, this objective was a large one, but being a determined group of men they accomplished it quickly and efficiently—they came through “with the speed of light.” | a A ET The lights have increased the attendance at the ball games, and given the students a sense of school spirit that Iwas never present before. We feel that the lights, which enabled us to play at night as the other teams in the ‘ district were doing, were a tremendous factor in enabling Brookville to win two successive championships and ‘to tie for the third. | Each year the Association provides a banquet for the team, at which time it makes awards to the outstanding ‘back, lineman, and player who displays the best sportsmanship. dt | The Association has as its President, Mr. W. B. Whitten, better known to students and patrons as “Slim” % | | Other active members are Maurice McCarthy, Robert McCarthy, Frank Bryant, Selbert Myers, David Urquhart, John “Bunker” Hill, Eddie Martin, Bob Bacharach, Russell Bersch, and Floyd Robertson. _ These men have worked hard for Brookville High School and we express our most sincere appreciation for i | efforts. Our Appreciation | Light poles stand high in the air as a symbol of the time and |effort spent by the members of the Recreation Association. CHORUS SINGS MORE The Brookville High School Chorus, under the direc- tion of Mr. Kelly Shoemaker, has provided many students i with a chance to voice their talent. The Chorus which was organized five years ago, has had more participants than any other organization in the school—and it is growing each year. Noted as one of the best in the state, the present group of one-hundred and twenty-seven voices has entertained the Lion’s Club, presented programs to several local churches, and participated in W.L.V.A.’s Annual Christ- mas Party. The highlight of their year is the completion of the Spring Festival and Spring Concert in Roanoke. Alto and soprano sections of 5th period Chorus class practice for Christmas asgembly. 74 st row: A.
