To be an honor graduate one must attain an average of ninety on their four years of high school work. First Row: Ann Litchford, Fay Wright. Second Row: Jane Fitzgerald, Marie Ballowe, Bill Fitch, Loretta Cox. Third Row: James Elder, Ethel Arthur, Marianne Robertson, Becky Johnson. [21] senior class history Move over upper classmen, here we come. This was the one thought in the minds of 87 tender- foot Freshmen. That year we were corralled and led by our understanding sponsors, Mr. Cox, Miss Weekly, and Mrs. Powell. These little tenderfeet voted Ronnie Wright, President; Becky Johnson, Vice-President; Jack Harker, Secretary; and Betty Wright, Treasurer. That year the girl’s basketball team won the championship and representatives from the Freshman class were: Ann Litchford, Peggy Lawrence, Violet Baker, Martha Harris, Ann Nash, with Becky Johnson, Scorekeeper, and Joanne Booth, Manager. Our candidate for Miss Brookville was Ann Glass. Jerry Smith and JoAnn Leffel w ere the candidates for Homecoming King and Queen. At last our first year of high school life came to an end. As the doors open again, we see now 68 sophomores scorning on lower classmen as now we are riding high in the saddle. This year the ones brave enough to guide us were Mrs. Nixon and Mrs. Wood. Our officers this year were: Bill Holland, President; Tommy Puckett, Vice-Presi- dent; Ann Litchford, Secretary; Becky Johnson, Treasurer. This year Peggy Lawrence was our candidate for Miss Brookville and JoAnn Leffel for Homecoming Queen, which she won. We were represented on the Cheerleading Squad by Becky Johnson. As the year closed at last, we were looking forward to our Junior Year. Here we were once again in the saddle as 68 high and mighty Juniors entered Brookville. This year the round-up leaders were Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Bersch. For a rip-roaring start, we elected Jack Harker, President; Eddie Morey, Vice-President; Ann Litchford, Secretary; Peggy Lawrence, Treasurer; and Marie Ballowe, Publicity Director. Patsy Vest was the candidate for Miss Brookville this year and Millie Hurt and Tommy Puckett were running for Homecoming King and Queen. Cheerleaders from the Junior Class this year were Becky Johnson and Joanne Booth. Our efforts were first turned toward the Junior Play “Seventeen,” which was a huge success. Then came the Junior-Senior Banquet and Ring Dance. As we received our rings we were like wild bucks. No holding us down now as we were almost “SENIORS.” This year the boy’s basketball team went to the tournament. Represented by boys, who are now Seniors, they were: Eddie Morey, Jerry Smith, Charles Bondurant, James Elder and Jack Harker. Hip! Hip! Hooray! Seniors at last. Look out “younger pupils,’ here we come. The graduat- ing class of ’58. Our good-hearted, patient sponsors being Mrs. Quigley and Mr. Wright. This year 68 made it back to the old homestead as once again Jack Harker heads the group as Presi- dent for the second time. Helping in his mighty job were Bill Fitch, Vice-President; Fay Wright, Secretary; and Becky Johnson, Treasurer. The masterpiece of the year was “Peg ’O My Heart,” the Senior Play, as for the last time we tried our acting talent. Everyone liked it thoroughly and we enjoyed doing it. Senior cheerleaders were Becky Johnson, Joanne Booth, Jane Fitzgerald and Millie Hurt. The candidate for Miss Brookville was Betty Wright and Homecoming King and Queen were Tommy Puckett and Patsy Vest. Many Seniors participated in clubs and have won many honors for Brookville and the present Senior Class. Jane Fitzgerald and Jerry Smith were the candi- dates from the Senior Class for King and Queen Bee. We won the Girls’ Basketball Champion- ship again with Martha Harris, Violet Baker, Ann Nash, Elaine Blake, Ann Litchford, JoAnn Leffel, Doris Maddox, players from the Senior Class. The Senior trip to New York was the ful- fillment of the year. The Seniors left by bus Wednesday evening, April 30, at 5:30 o’clock and arrived back home Sunday, May 4th. It was well worth the effort and its memory will remain a long time. Graduation and once again the doors of Brookville close on one of the best bunch of Seniors, we think, for good. P. S. Some of us may see you again next year though! Look for us. [ 22 | prophecy It is now the light year 1973. We find that the United States has finally succeeded in reaching the moon. To our amazement, Bucky Smith, one of the graduates of ’58, was the first to volunteer for this dangerous mission. He has been highly praised by the President of the United States, Jerry Smith, who with his wife, the former Violet Baker, was on hand to see the famous blast-off. Also in the field of science, we hear that Bill Fitch has perfected his own space ship capable of carrying two people. James Elder and Jane Conner have volunteered to take the first trip in this ship. The first space Secretary of Agriculture, Eddie Morey, has announced that the following star farmers will receive their awards via spacevision next sonar month. They are: Estelle Garbee Hall, John Hendrick, and Phillip Wright. Also on this program the famous Martian Movie Star, Marshall Tanner, will make his first S.V. (spacevision) appearance along with Charles Bondurant of the Met and Alfred Wilson, the famous band- leader. Bill Zimmerman and his wife, Ann, now are the owners of a large plantation on Mercury. Their butler and maid, Billy and Joanne Holland, seem to be very pleased with their new home. Loyd Woodford has established his own Drug Store on Venus. Today he hired a new soda jerk, Jack Harker, who is struggling hard to support his wife Becky, and their five sets of twins. Stanley Napier, principal of the new Space High School, and the following members of his staff: Ann Sites, Ruth Johnson, Ann Nash, Patsy Vest, and Rachel Wood, have finally outlawed smoking in the school as it upsets the interplanetary radio system. It was announced today that Betty Wright Wilson, has issued an invitation to Elaine Blake and her husband, Whitey, to visit with them this summer on Pluto. The statement was issued through their respective secretaries, Evelyn Denson and Loretta Cox. Because of the many deaths due to supersonic air pressure, Ronnie Millner has become so prosperous in the funeral home that he has hired three new secretaries, Jane Fitzgerald, Marie Ballowe, and Martha Harris to handle all of the new business. The Inter-Planetary Navy has finally discharged its two famous admirals, Herschel Brooks and Gordon Shearer. They were the two who escorted Ralph Wiley to Mars so that he could escape Reggie Walker, Director of Internal Revenue. Robert Swain, the great Senator and orator, has instructed his committee to investigate the Shelton Brewery, owned by J. C. Shelton, to see if there have been any illegal deliveries made between planets. Tommy Puckett was on hand to photograph the annual meeting of The Big Business Men’s Association of Saturn. Those present were Charles Campbell, owner of Sear’s Lumber Co., Wayne Pulliam, editor of the “Space News,” Dicky Lee Sm.th, owner of Smith Fast Freight and Morris Hensley, manager of the recently purchased Millner’s Pluto Store. The Mars Hospital has awarded diplomas to the following students: Nancy Crouch, Linda Landrum, JoAnn Leffel, and Doris Maddox. It took a long time, but they made it! Ethel Arthur and Nancy Schley, co-managers of the Space Retail Merchants Association, have informed Gaile Millner and Etta Wilson that they will have to stop granting credit to their customers on the moon as they are bad risks. Aubrey Johnson, the architect, has designed a new space garage to be built for Bill Jennings and Carlton Hartless since they are combining their businesses for the repair of satellites. Ann Glass, Mary Jane Wright, and Fay Wright are busy seeing which one can out do the other in house decoration. Richard Holberton, the well-known decorator, is assisting them in carrying out the “mad space look” in their homes. Shirley Walls and Jo Ann Leech Hamilton have settled down to keeping house and raising big families on Jupiter. Both are having their children take music from Marianne Robertson. Millie Hurt, Youth Director for Mercury Baptist, made a short visit to Saturn last month to have her favorite beautician, Nancy Bruffy, give the complete treatment. Well, I guess that is all the space gossip we can give you today, so GOOD-BYE EARTH PEOPLE.
