SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Looking back through the past years, we find the beginning of our senior Class of ‘56—a class that was mever meant to be. When the high schools of Campbell County inaugurated the twelve year system, we were told that the process would take five years and that one year there would be no senior class. 1956 is that fateful year! But we fooled them! Jerry Hartless, our charter member, made his first step toward graduation in 1950. Unaware of the change from elementary life to high school life, Jerry made a “boo-boo.”’ Because f his misstep, Jerry was accompanied by Edward Nuckles, Raymond Beale, bo Nowlin Maddox, and Paul Salmon in the session °51-’5 At the beginning of the session ’52-’53 these lads managed to enter the Brookville halls as proud Sophomores. During this year Frank Greene, a lone Freshman, straggled in from Fairfield High School near Lexington. This was a successful year for each of them except Ed, who, unfortunately was left behind in. the Sophomore class. In the following session of °53-’54, the doors were open to them as unlucky Juniors. Frank, now a Sophomore, and Ed were joined by Betty Puckett from Pamplin and Shirley Eggers from E. C. Glass. Due to hard- ships and failures all the Juniors “goofed” and remained in this class another year. When this failure occurred, Frank, Ed, Betty, and Shirley stepped into the Junior Class with those who wanted to lag behind. September again! The eight flighty Juniors imcreased to nine when Mary Cunningham from E. C. Glass entered our school. Barbara Evans and Shelby Fogle, who refused to graduate this year, remained Seniors, and with the passing of the Junior Class, the Senior Class of 56 received two more members. Now that we are Seniors we have eleven members and are, for once, together as a class with Mr. Wright as our sponsor. As class officers we chose Mary Cunningham, President; Jerry Hartless, Vice-President; and Frank Greene, Sec- retary and Treasurer. Our Senior trip will always be cherished with fond mem- ories. We have enjoyed these wonderful days at B. H. S.—in fact, you may see some Of uS again next year.
