THE BREEZE We were all d1v1ded up w1th a pal on one boat and another on one of the other two boats Our tr1p was to be to a small lsland out ln the Reach We had declded to com promlse and some rest wh1le others went sallxng We arrlved at our secluded lsland at about 4 oclock ln the afternoon after two hours on a choppy sea Some were so sea slck they could hardly stand wh1le others dxdn t mlnd lt at all We p1tched our tents numberlng about e1ght whlch nearly covered half the 1sland Everyone be1ng hungry we next had a basket brought up from the largest of the three boats and supper was prepared We were a pretty sorry looklng bunch s1tt1ng around the flre with a sandwlch Ln one hand and a cup of hot cocoa ln the other After supper We all gathered around the flre and started tellmg ghost stones all but a few who had wandered off to explore the lsland before the next day That flrs of us had seen The waves dashed ag'unst the rocks and cllffs below us wh1le the wlnd played 1n the treetops above Many was the t1me we were awakened by the moans of the seaslck members The next day broke clear and brlpht wlth the most of us awake at dawn ff went 1n sw1mm1ng and had breakfast The next thlng proposed was a sort of explor atxon tr1p on the lsland Thls turned oat to be a very pleasant trlp Although the un was warm there was a cool breeze f m the salt water The second nlght pro' ed even more terrlble than the first Sunday the thxrd and last day was spent ln rest and breaklng camp We left at about two oclock Sunday afternofn Our return trlp was much more pleasa at than the first trlp The sea belng calm ax d those who had been S83'51Ck gettmg ore the slckness we spent our t1me on deck On arr1v1ng home many frlends and p rents greeted us and encouraged us to take another uch tr1p some other week end Three weeks after that another tr1p was planned w1th more of the school m at tendance and five yachts mstead of three L G THE ONLY UNPAID MOVIE STAR Mlckey Mouse that popular pen and 1nk drawxng LS the only unpaid movxe star ln the world He IS famous 1n the Umted States and ln all parts of the world When Walt Dxsney h1S creator was slx h1s lxfes ambltlon was to own a c1rcus When he and hls parents moved to Kansas C1ty he declded to become a newspapel artlst The nearest he got to this was de llvermg papers at three dollars a week He d1d this from the t1me he was n1ne un'1 he was seventeen Then when the war broke out although he was under age he man aged to get lnto the Red Cross After the war he dr1fted from one Job to another unt11 he formed a company to make lT'Ot1Ull plctures of pen and 1nk drawlngs They made Jack and the Beanstalk and Jack the Glant K1ller but they were fallures and the company went 1nto bank ruptcy He tr1ed other schemes but all wlth the same result He and hrs brother went to Hollywood and made some drawings for another plc ture Th1S t1me lt was Oswald Dlsney was able to make from dred to two hundred drawlngs a was a greater success and they he Cdu one hun day 1 us saved nr teen thousand dollars and were able to h1re some help It was then that he thought of Mlckey Mouse I cant say how the ldea came he said We wanted another anamal We had a cat a mouse naturally came to mmd 14 V ! . . . 3- T ' .
