Casee. Boys Basketball Having only two regulars haek from last year the hoys' haskethall team was in need ot experienced players. Although they had very meager material they managed to have a formidahle team on the floor at all times. The hoys' team was lacking at the main point at center although our centers were good floor men, we were unahle to get the tipfoft in any game and therefore we were going into every game under a great handicap. Although the team won only 3 of its 8 league games they have gained experience and undouhtedly next year's team will he more tormidahle than this year. The hoys have elected Wayne Boyd, a forward on this year's team, to captain the team for next season. We all wish them success that is due them. We all hope that the hoys will work hard and put Brookside hack where it he' longs in the County League Standings. T1f'w11Iy-Hia'

mwwg. THE LEADER nrtfirzwrrvrtnzvwinzt-tt' Girls Basketball This year's team consisted of Rosella Gubeno, center forward, she is better known as Pal Could always be counted on to get the jump at center which was a great help to -us. Not only that, but she usually left her guard trailing while she was makf ing points chalk up for our team. Leona Gallagher, or for short, Lee, and she isn't very large, was certainly capable of making a good foul shot at any time. She took second place in the County Foul Shooting Contest which took place in Elyria. Through her many of the team's points were made. Genevieve Rath, better known as June Rath, could block. She seldom failed the team, and so through her good playing the team scored a large number of points. Bernyce Jungbluth, or Bunny, is a guard that was hard to beat. She worked hard to hold down her girl which she done very well. Thelma Miller will be back next year to keep her place as a guard. It was hard for an opponent to get by Thelma when she was on her guard, she held her opponents almost scoreless. Virden Maddock, Captain, was one of the best guards Brookside ever had. She always was able to get the ball when an opposing forward tried to dribble. She was always cool and lead her team very well. It will be hard to replace her. Credit should also be given to all the members of the squad, because without them and their faithful help at practice we could have had no success as a team. . 'vw THE LEADER Boys Basketball L Although our boys' team this year did not finish as high in the County League Standings as many of our previous teams have, they were beyond a doubt as hard workers and were playing a good clean game at all times. The outlook for a successful team next year is very bright as only two men are lost by graduation, john Owen and Walter Young. With seven lettermen returning from this year's squad and many other good players to choose from Brookside beyond a doubt will have a very good team on the floor at all times. From the standpoint of games won and lost this year's team was not very sucf cessful, but being very hard hit by graduation last year, this year's team was inexperif enced and it was necessary to build up a winning combination for next year. The boys returning have gained experience and have worked hard together which will help them a good deal for next year. Our team won only 6 out of 16 games but we were trying hard all of the time and beat many strong teams. There were no outstanding stars on this year's team, everybody working as a group and trying hard to win all the time. The boys are all eager to put Brookside back where it belongs- Watch Them Next Year.
