Science and industry require that we do not accept the world as we find it, but change it to suit our needs. Since chemical sciences are an integral part of this process, Tech's Chemi- cal Course, through lecture and laboratory work, provides the student with an extensive knowledge of the major fields of chemistry that are in practice today. Such an education- al program can lead to a fruitful career in either chemical science or engineering. 40

Many students who enter Tech have their sights fixed on a technical career after graduation from college. While they want to be familiarized with basic engineering concepts, they are also desirous of obtaining an extensive liberal arts education. The Technical College Preparatory Course of- fers just such a program. It enables the student to explore many avenues of human endeavor by of- fering latitude in the choosing of electives in the later stages of the course. The aim of the course is to give the student who has not committed himself to a career a chance to experiment with vari- ous interests. ln addition, he acquires sufficient credit in all areas so as to qualify him for en- trance into virtually any type of institution of higher learning.
