He has been an active member of the Program Committee for more than thirty-five years and has served as director of the stage squad for an entire generation of Tech- nites. As coach of the basketball team, he led the lirst Tech squad to Madi- son Square Garden to play off in the City Championship. In 1967 he became the first Director of Athletics at Tech. Mr. Goldman has been responsible for the establishment of several pro- grams which Technites often take for granted. He instituted the Health Serv- ice for the school and helped to create much of the intramural sports pro- gram at Tech. Twenty years ago he began to secure athletic scholarships for the basketball team, and more recently has sought awards for athletes from all teams. These scholarships have given many Technites the chance to at- tend college. ' -':1aI.-:'1- 'ir-:mg 'N e 'V -M-F At the end of this term, Mr. Allen Kaplan, after having served for five years as facul- ty adviser of the General Organization, will step down from this post. Under his guidance the G.O. has attempted to broaden the base of its activities and to increase the involvement of Technites in student government. By institut- ing student-faculty forums and re-vitalizing the Student Congress, the G.O. has u become more attuned to student wishes. lt has sponsored a borough-wide concert at Tech, a joint dance at the Cheetah, and a Peace Corps school in the Pacific. These are just a few examples of the widened responsibility the G.O. has taken upon it- .T self within the past few years. The advice and inspiration which Mr. Kaplan has provided has been essential in making the G.O. the more vital and democratic student government it is today.
