FROM THE PRINCIPAL... William Pabst Principal TO THE SENIORS, Evidence is accumulating of a downward turn in the industrial cycle. This is a matter of signihcance to you all. It means an end to the selleris market in labor. Those of you who are going directly into industry will be affected imme- diately by this change. Those who are going to college, will face the situation later. To the properly trained young man who has something to offer an employer, this need be no cause for alarm. A graduate of Brooklyn Tech need not fear com- petition. He is better prepared for technical industry than other graduates. Your Tech diploma is not, however, an automatic guarantee of a job. You must make a favorable impression by your appearance, your carriage, your speech and, above all else, by your ability to convince your prospective employer that you have training relevant to the product he manufactures. Find out what products the company makes before you apply for a job. You can get this from the com- pany advertising in trade magazines. Then, select those parts of your training which are relevant to that product and build your sales talk around them. For the Senior who has prolited by the instruction offered at Tech and who is willing to make a positive contribution to the world's work, l have no misgivings. You will do well, as have those who have gone before. My best Wishes for your success go with you. Www Www

M11 Geared to this streamlined age of mass production and scientific advancement. Tech has risen from the factory lofts of old to the modern housing for the busy beehive of technical activity that Tech is today. Working under conditions similar to those in industry, Tech students can be seen at their furnaces, hot metal flowing, in the foundryg or producing soap, paint and other industrial products in the modern laboratory on the 3rd floor: or submitting metallic bars to grueling tests in the Strength of Materials lab. Others are building full scale homes, tearing down and rebuilding powerful airplane en- ginesg or observing and working with the marvels of electricity. Students of all the representative courses, engaged in elementary and advanced stages of production fin machine shopsg in pattern making shopsg in physics labsg print shopsg sheet metal and welding shopsg ceramics labsg design studios and many other fields of endeavorl, are common sights here. Never content, Tech keeps on progressing. Recent improvements we have seen have ranged from the replacement of outdated forge shops, to the creation of an entire new course of study-Industrial Design. Modern spot-welding shopsg the conversion of Tech's radio station to the most modern form of radio broadcasting- FMg acquisition of more powerful engines for the Aero course are just some of the many innovations proposed to keep Tech on top. the Industrie MACHINE SHOP FOUNDRY
