FROM THE PRINCIPAL... William Pabst Principal TO THE SENIORS, Evidence is accumulating of a downward turn in the industrial cycle. This is a matter of signihcance to you all. It means an end to the selleris market in labor. Those of you who are going directly into industry will be affected imme- diately by this change. Those who are going to college, will face the situation later. To the properly trained young man who has something to offer an employer, this need be no cause for alarm. A graduate of Brooklyn Tech need not fear com- petition. He is better prepared for technical industry than other graduates. Your Tech diploma is not, however, an automatic guarantee of a job. You must make a favorable impression by your appearance, your carriage, your speech and, above all else, by your ability to convince your prospective employer that you have training relevant to the product he manufactures. Find out what products the company makes before you apply for a job. You can get this from the com- pany advertising in trade magazines. Then, select those parts of your training which are relevant to that product and build your sales talk around them. For the Senior who has prolited by the instruction offered at Tech and who is willing to make a positive contribution to the world's work, l have no misgivings.
