A T h e S 8 TL i 0 r Lance Hiltbrand Vice-President The Class of 1961 began its freshman year in a whirl of studies and orientation. The class showed its potential in its sophomore year with the Sophomore Shuffle dance which was very successful! Also in the sophomore year were the One-Act Plays, the theme of which was television spoofs. The sophomore play This Is your Life was topped only by the freshmen. The Sadie Hawkins Dance of their junior year was one of the implements which helped to raise money for the prom. As juniors, they were the first class to break the Norm Chaykowskl President ,nf if 15? Class Flower White Rose Sandy Bonk Treasurer C l a s O s f f . The Prom, which carried the theme of c'HaWaii,77 made up for the absence of the ban- quet. The senior year was one gigantic whirlpool of studies, Eaglet deadlines, extracurricular activities and preparation for Commencement. Deserving of special thanks were the teachers who sponsored the class in its final year: Miss Benneder, Mr. Carroll, Mr. Hall, Mr. Mar- quardt and Mrs. Sanida. NQ y C, 1 The football team of 1960 showed great ability under the able coaching of Coach Bob Marquardt, assisted by Mr. Edward Pohjala and Mr. Thomas Waltz. However, due to unforeseen injuries to vital players, the team was not able to play up to its potential. Brooklyn placed third in league compe- tition by winning two out of the five league games played. Although the year could have been more successful, there were many bright spots for the team. 'Three boys made the All-West County Team. Row 4: G. Henry, J. Hlinka, B. Lecorchick, D. Bietzel, D. Chatham, J. Brandt, W. France, T. Myers, F. Cordrick, K. Lazor. Jerry Kriausky made first string, while Norman Chaykowski and Gary Vigneau made second string. Don Peddie topped Jerry Kriausky in league scor- ing. Don also ranked high in the county scoring ratings. Jerry Kriausky, one of the outstanding players on the football team, was honored by being chosen as Press All-Star. He also broke the individual scoring record of 58 points established in 1957 by Ron Steffek. Jerry had a total of 12 touch- downs and 4 extra points. Harvey Warner was the high point man and also led the county in scoring. The other senior, Jim Gudin, was also Valuable -in his efforts to gain the ball for Brooklyn. Jim, because of his actions on the floor, helped Brooklyn put on a good showing. Even though this year's team won only seven games out of the nineteen played it will greatly benefit next years team since six members will return. We wish them all the luck in next years games and hope that they will be successful in obtaining the West County Championship. 8 n 11 0 BILL HULLIGAN HARVEY WARNER Captain JIM GUDIN 0 i n NICK SCHIAU Row 1: Coach, R. This year the Brooklyn matmen, in their first year of league competition, made a good showing on the mats. This was made possible by hard work on the part of the team and also by the great coaching of Mr. Joy. As a f . 'f c result of this winning combination the team started the year off by beating Strongsville 53 to nothing. The success of the team was also helped along by the fact that the team possessed good team spirit at practice and also at the 19 meets. This could be seen by the Way the team members helped each other at practice and the Way they conducted themselves at the meets. Next year the team will be handicapped by the loss of three members that will graduate this year. Therefore the V?- 'Q' -I 14 ' - 156' Qijpily W he team of '62 may not have the superiority in knowledge, but they should win. A 0 69 'Z . z 0 f- N. JOHNSON N. CHAYKOWSKI J.
