The cruiser Brooklyn was com- missioned September 30, 1937,yal the U.S. Navy Yard, N.Y., the third U.S. Navy ship of that name. During World War II -she fought in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operation. She participated in the invasions of Casablanca, Italy, and France. She was placed out of commis- sion Jan. 30, 1946.
