Last year however, in accordance with Chapter 95, Acts of 1972, the Student Advis- ory Board was formed. Five students are elected to represent the Brookline High School community in all matters before the School Committee, The two bodies meet periodically during the school year, and the students retain their posts for one year. Now at last, the students have some say in matters concerning the high school. STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD First Row: Haven Gracey, Ellen Stotsky. Second Row: Neal Piltch, Jerry Fleishman. HEADMASTER TO THE CLASS OF 1974: During our four years together we have gone through an evolution beginning with social upheaval and political unrest to the present mood of apathy, passive- ness and societal moral decadence. 1973-1974 is marked by the emergence of a search for personal identity, a return to more traditional and even conservative patterns. Our primary education- al concern had emphasized process and now we have turned our attention to content. There is revised concern for guidelines, codes, ethics, morality and values designed to fill the vacuum which coincides with the decline of institutions — the schools, formal religious structures and political organisms. Our time of faddism, turmoil and national agony led us to hysteria and crisis. VVe have flagellated ourselves individually and castigated ourselves nationally. It is time to go forward. There are strong latter-day signals — auspicious signals marked by HOPE. Now, go! With hope, trust and yea! even faith! Our civilization has not declined as a prelude to fall. Rather, the decline presages the rise of a new man of the 21st Century. You are it! Make way confidently and gladly, for all our sakes. CARMEN P. RINALDI
