Varsity Football After losing only to Weymouth and Waltham in Sep- tember 1967, Brookline proceeded to win fifteen straight games, including impressive wins over those same teams. The streak was broken by Newton on Thanksgiving day 1968 but only after Brookline had already clinched a tie for the Suburban League and state championships. The size and quickness of the Indian defense was the team’s strongest asset, as they posted three shutouts and surrendered a meager 64 points in nine games. The Red and Blue scored 22 points in the first half alone against both Watertown and Chelsea, an indica- tion of the explosiveness of their offense. The dedication that ail the players exemplified has become a source of pride and leadership for the stu- dent body at Brookline High. 140 Brookline Opp. 14 Weymouth 1 19 Waltham 18 27 Boston English 0 14 Brockton 12 14 Boston Latin 6 6 Arlington 0 22 Watertown 0 34 Chelsea 8 6 Newton 15 Dan Swartz Boston Globe’s All-Scholastic Football Players Bob Riley 142 143 Row I: Eid Glasky, Paul Travis, Thomas Silva.
