Unlike most schools, ours is divided into houses rather than classes. These houses are named for outstanding citizens of the town, whose interest in Brookline ' s youth made them an inspiration for all. ie school that I live in 115 Greenough Street

DEDICATION %.L 5X5 U 3 1712 01439 6454 X H fh© vibration of live school spirit and L v y active democracy rising to a crescendo in the halls of Brookline High School, we of the Class of 1948 proudly dedicate our yearbook to the late Miss Grace Allen and Mr. Tyler Kepner. We thus consecrate ourselves to the ideals of a united student body, working two thousand strong, with more responsive and re- sponsible democracy as its aim. It was with these goals in mind that Miss Allen and Mr. Kepner served our school untiringly for more than two decades. From both, the students of Brookline High School have learned to recog- nize and cultivate the sterling gualities of an alert conscience and an ever-present sense of justice. ' V M XL 4C % I. With their pur- poses in mind, we promise ourselves and our school constant endeavor, so that the spirit of B.H.S. may not be weighed and found wanting. Grace Allen ' s intense desire was to serve young people, to help them think straight, to show them the great wealth of literature, and to furnish them the means of attaining real richness of living. — Alice Howard Spaulding Tyler Kepner possessed a firm and abiding faith in the democratic way of life.
