Santa Claus, alias Daryl johnson, fascinates the children at the Student Council Christmas Party held at the Babcock Center. Scott Newman and Mr. Risinger induct Student Council Members atAssembly. Student Council Advisor, Miss Mclntosh, tries to catch up on all the little things that need to be done. -1 - Last spring, during the month of April, the 75-76 Student Council, got its start with the election of stu- dent body officers. Speeches were made by all of the candidates, posters hung, and campaign buttons dis- tributed. lt was an exciting week which climaxed with the announcement of the winners - Scott Newman - President, Karen Addy - Vice President, Kathleerl Carney - Secretary and Willie Pralour - Treasurer. 1 During the summer months, long before school opened the council was in action. Two of the officers attended a Student Council camp, where they learned new ideas for student council. The council got to- gether and painted the long awaited Bearcat paws down Indigo Avenue. Also, they helped beautify the school by painting bookshelves, trashcans, and putting up bulletin boards. The council sponsored freshman orientation day, held a day before school started. As September came, class officers and homeroom rep- resentatives were elected. Add one outstanding, over- worked, underpaid advisor - Miss Angela Mclntoshj and the council was complete. There were so many projects the student council carried out this year that it would be impossible to do an indepth report ol them all. So instead we've compiled a list of all, or most of the projects for '75-'76. 1. sold parking stickers 2. sponsored Catfest '75 3. sponsored sign and door contests 4. sponsored Mr. Turkey contest 5. supported two orphans overseas 6. had post office at Christmans 7. held party at Babcock Center for retarded children 8. raised money for March of Dimes Telethon 9. made the morning announcements 10. held special assemblies 11. sponsored Spring Fair 12. handled all elections 13. held Student Council workshop 14. attended Board of Trustees meeting 15. had Lost and Found Department 16. cleaned up the school 17. painted Bearcat Paws down Indigo Ave. And the list still isn't complete. Yes, our Council has definitely accomplished a lot this year but that's what they're here for! The people must have made good choices when electing their leaders! usual?
