Not so, at Brookland- Cayce. The freshman class of 1976, was a major participant in school activities, and contributed as much to the school as any other class did. They have proved, beyond a doubt, that B.C. will be in good hands for the next three years. Freshmen of '76 Seniors of '79 ... this baby's got it all together! l WW' . S One of the first major projects planned and sponsored by the stu- dent council, this year, took place on October 29 at 7:30 at the school. The event was called Catfest 75 and was a first in the history of Brookland Cayce. It was held to help raise school spirit and pride during Homecoming Week, and also to get the Student Body in- volved in Homecoming. The Stu- dent Council borrowed the idea of the Catfest from the University of South Carolina, who hosts an annual cockfest, to celebrate their 4 Homecoming. l Much work was invested in the lpreparation for the Catfest, by the A Student Council, cheerleaders, band K' A an chorus. The pre-Catfest activi- ies included a sign contest, a door decorating contest, and special days such as fifties day, jersey day dress up day, ect. ... The nightime extravaganza was a combination pep rally bonfire comedy show, contest, and dance. The cheerleaders provided the pep talks, and the chorus and band treat- ed the students with mini-concerts. The Student Council put on a come- dy spoof entitled Hornets which was a spin off on the movie JAWS, In the play Quint Bearcat destroys the great hornet, who has terrorized man and beast for centuries. At the end, he pulls out another victory for the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats lf.. in their duel with Aiken. The drama club also skit after which a big he d. At this dance the Senior football players and their homecoming sponsors were honored. The band Peace and Music gave an excellent per- formance, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Hopefully the Catfest will become an annual event here at Brookland- Cayce. If it was this good its first year, just think what Catfest '76 will be like! f K 4.
