How should I know . . . lhaven't ever made any kind of float be- fore! So the conversation went during the first meetings of the Freshman float committee. Perhaps at first they didn't know what they were doing but the float turned out pretty good! The Homecoming float was only one of the many activities that freshmen participated in this year. Many freshmen involved them- selves in clubs of all sorts. By taking part in activities at Brookland- Cayce, they broadened their hori- zons, made new friends and had a very good time. The Freshmen also, were introduced to new types of classroom activities. Some favorite courses with them were Drama, Art and Physical Education. In these and other classes, Freshmen took a ma- jor part in the learning process, by demonstrations, skits and games. Freshmen were very active in or- ganizations such as Student Council, Chorus, Band, sports, cheerleading etc. Ten girls from the ninth grade competed in the Miss Bearcat contest and two boys competed for the title of Mr. Turkey. The Booster Club, otherwise known as Bleacher Bums, was made up largely, of fresh- men. It's obvious that the freshmen did participate!
