They marched on Hobo day and at the Bobcat day game presented in formation a picture of the gay Mardi Crras. When winter came the musicians concentrated their ef- forts on the contest. ln Milbank twenty-seven groups received superior, three were given ex- cellent ratings. Of these entrants, twenty were recommended for the evening concert. The spring concc rt featured a variety of music from Handel to Rock and Roll The choice of music and the excellent interpretation made this a fine concert. 'X Soft strains of music may be heard almost ev- ery morning at eight o'clock. Orchestra mem- bers start to work earlier in the day than most people in the school and the extra minutes seem to pay off. This year the orchestra played for the Junior and Senior class plays, the annual Cliristmas program, and the Baccalaureate ser- vice. Early in May they observed National Music week with a concert. Both band and orchestra received superior ratings in the regional contest this year. 1959 marked the first contest in three years as previously a region festival was held.
