52 ATHLETICS .. ... 'l'ui'm-i', Hut-k S. l", Cill'lll'Ill.0l' S. l".. Nikluson The Bobcats defeated the Flandreau Indians 34-21 in our first game of the season. The Bobcats next met Tracy and emerged with a 25-14 victory after four quarters of furious basketball in which all members of the Bobcat team took part. For our first conference victory we whipped the Madison Bulldogs 26-22 and followed it up with a 33-31 over- time victory over Cathedral High at Sioux Falls. Starting the New Year out right, the Bobcats came through with their second consecutive win over the Alumni by a score of 33-18. The Bobcats continued their wins with a 32-13 victory over Redfield: but struck a snag at Aberdeen, where they lost their first conference game 3l-21. Returning to winning form, the Bobcats journeyed to Watertown and whipped the strong Arrows 23-21 in our second overtime game. Our next vic- tor was a 20-18 thriller over Huron Y . We suffered our first loss to a non- conference team when Eastern High of Madison finished on the long end of a 30-27 score- We lost our second confer- ence game to a strong Sioux Falls team by a score of 27-32. Meeting Cathedral High for a return match, the Bobcats again defeated them. This time by a score of 32-29. In another close game with Huron we staved off a lost minute rally and beat them 24-22. The Bobcats were repaid for an early victory when the Flandreau Indians de- feated them 3l-l9. We then journeyed to Madison and overcame the fighting Bulldogs 30-28, but in the next game fell before a strong Yankton team 41-33. ln a return game with Yankton the Bobcats gained revenge by whipping them 25-22, but on the next night lost to the Sioux Falls team 27-24 as a result of a disas- trous third quarter. The Bobcats closed their conference season with a 38-34 victory over Watertown, and finished the regular season by defeating Eastern High of Madison 31-21-

BOBKITTENS ARE CHAMPS The "B" squad basketball team, under the Supervision of L. D. Horrigan, fin- ished it's most successful season by winning fourteen out of nineteen games. This included all six of their conference games, to enable them to tie for first place in the Upper Sioux Valley Con- ference. Letters were awarded to the "B" squad for the first time this year. These were the same as the regular athletic monograms but for a small interwoven Letters were awarded to Heisman, Hanson, Chester, Otterness, Moriarty: and Crusinberryg while Swanson, Ste- vens, Hammond, Buckley, Mills, Cher- venka, Schaffner, composed the rest of the squad. The regular manager's letter was awarded to W. johnson. Heisman, Hanson, and Chester all received all- conference recognition. At the end of the season the Kittens won an invitational schedule held here in which Arlington, Madison, Flandreau, and Brookings "B" squads competed.
