Editor-in-Chief Mary Walker, Jean Derryberry ..... . .Business Managers Miss Theresia Abshagen, Miss Bessie Jenkins .... Advisors Jackson 's Studio .................... Photography Since it falls to the lot ofthe Class of '59 to produce the Thirteenth B. H. S. yearbook, we, the members of the class and the editorial staff, have chosen to shake our fists in the face of Wyrd and the other Fates, to use Superstition as our theme, and to make this annual the Lucky Thirteenth. Dedication 495 Nr' ,Q inn MR and MRS CLYDE JACKSON Custom does not usually permit dedicating the B H S yearbook to persons outside the school system but because of their loyal devotion to Brookhaven Hugh School the Senior Class of 1959 wishes to show the Jacksons some token of sincere appreciation . Even though they receive remuneration for their work, there is really no way to repay them for the extra hours they spend and the patience they demonstrate in helping to produce an outstanding OLE BROOK each year. Therefore, the Senior Class and the Editors of the Lucky l3 lovingly dedicate the i959 OLE BROOK to their official picture takers and good friends, Faye and Clyde Jackson. O O -r , Frm J Q I O . . WHO CARES ABOUT RAIN! We really had a Carnival-Festival October 31, 1958, when the Class of 1959 presented the Tenth Annual Homecoming. Even though Lady Luck prevented us from having the parade, we believe we had the best program with the loveliest queen and court ever. A very special tribute was paid to Miss Mamie Martin and the Classes of 1918, 1928, 1938, 1948, 1958. A lovely reception in the library followed for all the alumni and highlighted the afternoon. At 7:30 p.m. charming and vivacious Floy Nations was crowned by the 1957 queen, Sylvia Lovell. This glorious day was brought to a successful close with the Panthers being victorious over the Pascagoula's Panthers and in after-game dance sponsored by the S. C. 72 Our receptronrsts seerng it well done. Queen Floy presides. EMM All Hail! llorueconnngl The grand finale of The 19518 Homecoming Carnival-Festival. This is the srickiest glue! H.S. can certainly be proud of the Panther Band, which is under the direction of Mr. Robert Moore. The spectacular performances in chapel and on the football field thrilled all. Members of the band attended B'and Festival at State and the State Band Contest in Jackson. The Band Parents Club gave the annual Christmas party for the band and had a candy sale and a magazine sale to raise money for them. All in all, it was a wonderful year for the B. H . S .
