BCIIO CLASS HISTORY I wrll try to relate, brrefly the events that mark an rmportant part rn our Hlgh School career at Brookfreld On September sexenth nrrrctcen hundred twenty crght nrnety erght freshmen entered Brookfield Hrgh School to further therr educrtron The frrst week we remember well We were lost rn the hurrvrrrg, rrrd seurryrng' trylrrg to find our next rlass We soon however adjusted ourselxes to the routrne and after some sad ercperrences le rrned wh rt corrflrct means We held our trrst class meetmgr and elected eaprble offrcers to lead us ln the varrous actnrtres th rt followed Latherrne Hostetter was elected presrdent lulra Elk secret rrw Wrllrrm Harmon treasurer As rs customary for freshmen we chose ffreen and wlrrte as our class colors Mrss Crldwell and Mr Hulme served as class rrdusors We hrd a good represerrtatrorr rn lrterary and athletre rctrvrtres Thus our iirst year rn hrgh school came to a close and we looked forward to the trme when we would take up our work as sophomores Xacatron months passed swrftlv and we returned rn the fall to strrve onward Upon checkrng we found the number had decreased to srxty but thrs, however, drd not hold Us back rn drsplayrnfr our capabrlrtres Immedrately we elected offrcers for the honored posrtrons Ashton Hall presrdent Anna Longley vrce presrdent Julra Flk secretary, Reese Edwards treasurer Nlrss McConnell and N11 Koppel class adxrsors Our colors were orange and black We were promrnent ln sports hawrnv several rn the football and basketball squads We also responded rn lrterary actrwrtres 'Vlany of the sophomores musrcal no es could be heard rn the Glee Clubs and rn the operetta, Polrshed Pebbles We devoted much of our trme to help make rt a success Another year drew to a close wrth a prcnrc at Yankee lake We returned as brrllrant and somewhat wrser Junrors slrghtly decreased rn num ber, only fifty five of us remarrrrng to carry on the work set before us We earnestly took up the task by electrng James Ryan presrdent Julra Elk secretary for the thrrd tlme -X a Jones treasurer class adxrsors Nlrss Hrggrns and Wh Koppel W selected blue and whrte as our colors and To thrne ownself be true as our motto Agrarn we garned promrnency rn athletrc rnd lrterary accomplrshments In the operetta Up rn the Arr we had several outstandrng partrcrpants Our class play, Nothrng But the Truth revealed our dramatrc abrlrty rnd helped us to bear expenses for the Junror Senlor banquet and the Junror Senror dance Forty nrne of us returned to hold the trtle as senrors We began our heavy task bv electrng Asa Jones presrdent Ashton Hall vrce presrdent Harold Falkner treasurer, Julra Elk secretarv 'Nlrss Reeser and 'Vlr Koppel were chosen as Class Adwrsors and blue and srlver as our colors A number answered the call for football and basketball wrth the result that we had fourteen lettermen Nor clrd we neglect the lrterary functrons The Senror play, Full House under the capable clrrectron of Wlrss Reeser and MISS Matthews was most successful Now we eagerly look forward to the ann.ual socral good trmes whrch wrll brrng to a close our hrfrh school crurse We regretfully brd farewell to dear old Brookfield Hrgh, remenrberrng the mrny lessons taught Wrth our drplomas clasped rn our hands we go on gurded by our motto Honor lres rn honest torl ELIZABETH WALLACE 19 1 J ' 9 A . . .
