Our Junior year Diana Lash, Pat Fowler, and Phyllis Fowler entered. This was the vear we started making money, we sold magazines, and concessions at the ball games. We had a good play “Grandpa’s Twin Sister’’ and the prettiest prom the Brook gym ever saw. At the beginning of our Senior year we had 26 members, no one entered and Sue Carol Hendry dropped out. We were starting the homestretch, waiting but dreading the familiar strains of “Pomp and Circumstance.” We kept on making money and presented the play “Mother Is A Freshman which everyone enjoyed. We are all looking forward to the wonderful trip to New York and Washington which everyone worked so hard to obtain. We all hope we will be as happy and have as much fun out of school as we did in school. The band has been very busy this year playing for ball games and concerts. On December 5, the Brook High School Band held its annual fall concert, at which the senior members were presented with merit sweaters by the Band Boosters. Following the state band contest, the band had a new experience. A school librarian was first employed in 1939 to comply to a new state law. The year before this some of the books had been cataloged by Miss Cunningham in prepara- tion for regular school library service. Mr. Tanksley assumed charge of this and has continued through to the present date. Since this time one thousand, five hundred eighty-eight books have been added to grade and high school. During this time students have helped in checking out books and hunting material. Some have helped by typing book cards and pasting pockets and date due slips on books. The student librarians feel they have benefitted from the experience and rendered a service to the student body. It has helped teachers in their making assignments and saved them time in gathering materials. Their season record was Won 19, Lost 5. The team was noted chiefly for its balance and fast passing. These boys gave everything that they had all season long, in every game. They did their best; their utmost. If every one of us will put out as much, and try as hard, in whatever we at- tempt to do, as these boys have tried this year—SUCCESS will surely be ours. “B” TEAM SECOND ROW: Phil Miller, Coach, Merrill Lopp, John Hammon, Wayne Downs, Manager, Jim Brunton, Jim Plott, Doug Lowry, Assistant Coach. These boys know that there will be seven Varsity places to fill next fall, and have done a good job in winning more than half of their games.
