Hof left Ill icilh uv zclien he reliretl. he essential meaning of the verlt to dedicatei' is to set apart for sacred usefi We. the Senior Class of l95fJ. dedicate this hook to the future in the hope that its use will he sacred. If at some time in the distant future. one person opens this time capsule of a volume and discovers some vestige of good. then our purpose of dedication will have heen fulfilled and the use of this hook will indeed have been sacred. It is a virtual impossibility to enclose in this time capsule all the tender and won- derful experiences of our four years in high school. Perhaps one emotion can within itself encompass everything good we would like the future to l'CIlN'IIll1l I'il.Ul'P, and to represent it. a person would have to live as the image of love. Strangely enough. although this world has an abundance of hrilliant people. rare indeed are those created in the image of love. Rare is the person who has the ability to speak to a Confused adolescent and have him walk away owning the world. Rare is the person who. with that indefinahle something. understands the human race, and still loves it. The individual in question would have to love the insignificant. despite the prom- inence of the significant. And what is more heid have to love the significant. too. He'd have to he someone to he respected. for what is love without respect. And to lze respected hy the wise and learned. he too would have to he wise and learned. Heid have to he a strong and a loyal friend. for friendship is the step lmefore love. Wiarmth and kindliness are also essential. for the ordinary person will not squander his love on a cold man, Heid have to he someone religious. for without religion no one is com- plete. Heid have to have faults. for perfection too often repels the non-perfect individual. And ahove all. he would have to have that unique alrility of loving even those who are hard to love. ,-X person such as this is a hard one to find, yet we at Sl'l.f'lIl'l' were fortunate in finding him smiling lmehind an Administrative .-Xssistantis sign up to the time of his retirement in September of 1955. For almost two decades. students at Scieriee were enriched hy his presence. H This is the way Mr. Frankel expressed his happiness upon discovering that our energetic Seniors were leav- ing their college applications sitting on their desks at home. He had decided that it wouldnit be fair for us to be called Seniors for two con- secutive years so he devised the title g'Super-Science-Seniorsfi what a lovely phrase! Nlost of us gave serious thought to the prestige w e'd have as the first Super-Seniors in Science history. Just think of the honor of spending not four but five years in the lironx High School of Science. Hut sadly enough a glance at the flow' of Seniors into the Guidance Uliice shows that the '56 conformists will also wind up in college on schedule as did their predecessors. The blame for this conformity lies with our three Advisers: Mrs. Kwit. Mr. Alkali. and Mr. Frankel. They seem to spend all their time discovering bigger and better colleges and universities to woo us away from Science. Their discourses on these institutions of higher learning are so informative and scintillating that our Seniors can almost always be found searching for the grade guides. ltis quite miraculous that with so much time spent in preventing us from becoming SUPPT-SClPIlFf'-SPI!lUl'S they have time for anything else. but a glance into their class- rooms shows some interesting scenes. Wie look into lloom 201 and see Mr. Frankel in an informal atmosphere of coffee and bagels helping one of his courageous Bio stu- dents to puncture her fingerg Mrs. Kwil can be found in the midst of a soliloquy from Hmnlet. or in a thought-provoking discussion about the meaning of Tragedyg in Mr. .-Xlkali's room. we catch him engrossed in explaining the way to solve a simultaneous equation. However. a peep into Room IUQA will find these same people who a little while ago were involved in their teaching. discouraging a lad with a 697 average from becoming a Super-Science-Senlor. Although the malingereris heart may be set on it, Mr. Alkaliis encouragement finally convinces the culprit that his progress should be made outside of the Science portals and in some college. ln another corner of the olhce we see Nlrs. Kwit conversing with some of the girls about the advantages and disadvantages of Cornell. Careful reading has already convinced them of its advantagesgboys outnumber girls at Cornell 5-l.
