Alter these preliminary man-made rains. the seniors r-ongregated in the auditorium lor the variety show. With the lllue Notes proxid- ing a musical harrkground. liitl Angelos and ,loan lleid sang an few nunihers whileeowhoy yodelerflarl Sesar showed how it's done in the Texan Alps. 'lihen Teddy The Manu Solomon und Alan The Angelii Selireihman engaged in il wrestling niatr-h and sucr-ee-ded only in pinning the referee. Frank Schwartz. Ur. Mantel r-oneluded the program hy playing the organ. a talent whir-h helped him support his way through eollege. From there. the seniors. having digested the lunch ol' soggy sand- wif-hes. retreated to the lunr-hroom. which alter the removal of a few tahles was renovated into a dance hall. Accompanied onee again hy the lllue Notes. the upper teriners then hit the rug till the ninth period hell 21IltlUl1lIfft'fl the conclusion of another day. While senior flav was 21 surf-ess. the general air ol' lun and lellow- . P' ship eliuracteristir' ol' past days was missing. This was prohahly the result of the impending world f-risis together with u realization thut niost ol' the sr-hool uf-tivities were still hanned hy the stoppage. 'lihose were also the davs when our teams were iust lieginning to prove that our school is not onlv an intellectual storehouse. lint could also take care ot' itsell' on the athletic lield. Uni' term produced many ol' the athletes t who tried to prove the old saving. Healthy l minds make healthy hodiesfi lfxerv team on the school was well represented with class- inates ol' ours. and as we review four years of sports. it might he well to review some ol' the accomplishments ol' our classmates on those teams. Prolialtlv one of the hrst to hecome an active varsity memher it as Teddy Solomon. who vt as second string first lvaseman on thc liaseliall team as early as third term. Teddy. who plays semi-professional hall over the summers. attained the singular distinction of hreaking up two noehitlers in one season. one in the last inning. The feat was accom- plished lirst in an exhilvition game withf.'11rdi1111ll1rm'ex and later in a PSU. encounter against Cllilllllll. i As time went on, 'lieddy hecame the spark ofthe team. halting .I-iltt in PSAI. competi- tion. and .llll against all other teams. He also ltlasted Sf'lAl'lIf'1'iS hrst and only homer of the season. a solid round tripper which helped in eking out a 5-I win over Com- rzzerce. Teddy. tall and slim. holds the ad- ditional distinction of never striking out in high school competition. The whole liackstop department ol' the team was composed ol' lioys lirom our term.
