She has been with the Bronson school system for twenty-eight years. Starting in 1946 she has worked as secretary under 6 superintendents. Elwyn J. Bod-ley, George Carpenter, Gareth Heisler, Gorden VanWeiren, Burton Aldrich, and Robert Beauchamp. ROBERT BEAUCHAMP has served as superintendent for the Bronson Community Schools for the last three years. He received his BS degree at NMU and his MA at U of M. He was superintendent at Ovid-Elsie Area Schools for eight years before coming to Bronson. MRS. MARIE TRACY is Mr. Beauchamp's secretary. Mrs. Tracy is retiring after this year. She has been helpful to everyone and will be remembered by everyone. Good Luck Mrs. Tracy!!! V 4 9 MR. WARREN WADE has been principal since the 1970-71 school year. Throughout the years, Mr. Wade has made a worthwhile change in the curriculum. MRS. PHYLLIS CRANDALL has been with the high school five years. She is Mr. Wade's secretary, and is always of help to anyone who needs it. Counselors The counselors at Bronson High are MRS. DONNA BRUSAK and MR. ROBERT WHITCOMB. They have been friendly and helpful to all the students. The counselors are doing their best to help each student set up a schedule that will coordinate with what they may be doing after they graduate. n ROLLAND NORTON keeps uack of the money going in and out of the school. He sets up a budget for the school every year. Mr. Norton will not be coming back in the fall and will be missed by everyone. MARLENE BURKHARDT is Mr. Norton’s financial secretary. She keeps track of all the money for various clubs and activities. 15 FACULTY . . . that gray color . . . -which nature loves; color of unpainted wood, weather-stain; time-stain; not glaring nor gaudy; the color of all roofs, the color of all things that endure . . . David Thoreau Mr. Andridge teaches Biology 1 and II and Conservation: he has been teaching here for 5 years. Mr. Anglin has been with us for 5 years, and this year he is teaching Arts and Crafts, Elements of Art, and Drawing and Painting. Mr. Bowers teaches a variety of things: Basic Woods, Furniture and Cabinet Making, Industrial Vocations and Home Mechanics. He has taught here for 6 years. MR. ALAN ANDRIDGE MR. VERN ANGLIN M MRS. DIANE BOLTON Mrs. Bolton is rather new at teaching, this being her second year. This year she is teaching German I and II and English I and II. Mrs. Eich who has been here for three years is now teaching English I and II and Practical English. She is now expecting and will be taking a year's leave. Miss Chisholm is very active in our school. She teaches Michigan Leadership, World History, Debate, and also helps with drama and follies. Mr. Carroll teaches Band here at the high school and also at the junior high school. He has taught here for 4 years. MISS PAT CHISHOLM MR. NORM CARROLL 5 16 This year Mrs. Hurd has been teaching 9th grade and advanced Phys. Ed. She has also taught Health Education. She has been with Bronson Senior High School for 5 years. Mr. Elkins is teaching Manufacturing Process, Mechanical Drawing, and Art Metals. He has been teaching for 5 years. Mr. Hinkley, who has been here for 4 years, is leaving us. He has taught Animal and Plant Science, Agriculture Industry, and Soil Science. MR. DOUG ELKINS MRS. VERA HURD MR. FRED HINKLEY Mr. Mosier has enjoyed teaching Creative Writing, American Literature, English II, and College Composition. He has been with us for six years. Here is a teacher who likes to help students - Mr. Lockwood has taught in the Resource Center for 3 years. Mr. Moon has taught seven years - U. S. History and Phys. Ed. and Advanced Phys. Ed. for boys. He has been chosen several times for teacher of the year. This is Mr. Knapp's eighth year and this year he has been teaching Mass Media, English I and Michigan Leadership. He also has been in charge of Teens for Christ. MR. CARROLL MOON MR. DAVE KNAPP MR. DON MOSIER MR. DAVE LOCKWOOD 17 Miss Redford has been teaching at Bronson High School for four years. She has taught Typing I, Business Machines, Shorthand, and Business Survey. Mrs. Moss has been head of Future Teachers and also teaches Earth Science, Human Life System, Algebra I, and Chemistry. She's been here for 6 years. She hates to have her picture taken. In his second year at Bronson High, Mr. Neitzert has taught Algebra II, General Math, and Geometry. This is Mrs. Pustelnik's first year at Bronson H. S. She has been great teaching the Chorus and the A Capella Choir. MISS BARBARA REDFORD MRS. KAREN MOSS MR. KENT NEITZERT 18 This year Mrs. Shoun has Algebra I, Physical Science, Physics, and General Math. She is also head of Future Nurses. Mrs. Shoun has been here for 7 years. This is Ms. Smith's first year teaching at Bronson High. She's in charge of Clothing, Advanced Foods, Family Living, and Interior Decorating. She's leaving to live in Arizona. Mr. Scully has been here with us 10 years. This year he is teaching Economics, Government, Industrial Revolution, United Nations, and Colonial History. The seniors love him! MRS. ELLEN SHOUN MS. BETH SMITH MR. GORDON SCULLY 19 Mr. VanDam has been at the high school for 8 years. He's teaching Typing I, Personal Typing I, Business Law, and Accounting. Here is a nice teacher who can't keep his chair dry - his name is Mr. Tracy. He's teaching Government, Boys Phys. Ed., and International Relations. Mr. Tracy has been here for nine years. Mrs. Wilkins is new here but she seems to get along with everyone. Her classes are English I, Minority Literature, and Drama Production. She keeps the school laughing and has been here for two years. MR. KEITH TRACY MR. JOHN VanDAM MRS. CHARLENE WILKINS 20 MRS. NORMA WHITCOMB Mrs. Whitcomb only teaches for a half day but you don't leave her class without learning something. Her classes are Home Ec. I, Health Education, Child Development. She has been here for 5 years. Mr. Wotta teaches U. S. History Survey, Michigan Leadership and has been here for four years. He's always having problems with his blackboard. Mr. Zabonick teaches a subject called Consumer Math. It is very helpful because you tend to forget, as he always says. His other classes are Analytical Geometry and Mechanical Drawing I. He has been with us for 19 years. MR. PHILLIP WOTTA rioioiooK MR. WILLIAM ZABONICK Heritage j branch district library 21 Mrs. Norton is our librarian and she has done a fine job trying to keep all of the books and magazines in order. She has been with us for 13 years, and we are sad to hear she will be leaving us. Her willingness to help and friendly smile will be greatly missed. Mrs. Laws has been with the Bronson High School for 10 years. She is in charge of our study halls. She's known for her shyness . . . she always gets her student. Mrs. Troyer helps Mrs. Norton with the library. She's also done a lot since she’s worked here. She's been at the high school for four years. MRS. CLARE LAWS MRS. MARGARET NORTON MRS. First place float was the Library Club's with their revival of the Sputnik. Seniors took second place with The Jive Hive. ” A dance was held after the game with Fuse providing entertainment for the evening. Pam Lutz and Dan Belote were crowned this year’s Queen and King by Candy Klavinski and Clint Krie-inbrink, last year's Queen and King. 74 75 The Fall Play for this year consisted of three one-act plays. They were Ledge, Ledger, and the Legend, Curse You, Jack Dalton, and The Cop and the Anthem, Ledge, Ledger, and the Legend was about a young man who wanted to commit suicide by jumping off a building. He is confronted by a young woman who specializes in professional suicides. Curse You, Jack Dalton was an old-fashioned melodrama, complete with hero, heroine, and villain. The Cop and the Anthem” was about a park bench bum who wants to get arrested so he can spend the winter in a nice warm jail. A barbershop was the background for this year's band Northwind. Refreshments were served from a general store. Another wall was covered by a stone mansion where guests were seated. The students suffered a well-played defeat at the hands of the infamous teachers! The main event was preceded by a girls basketball game and 5th and 6th grade game. Proceeds from the evening went to the B. E. A. Scholarship Fund, which is used to benefit students throughout the school system through summer camps and workshops and college scholarships. Taking its more-or-less plot from Sir Wilfrid Wolf, who claimed he was wrongfully typed by Aesop as a bad guy, the play undertakes to overturn other fables, drawing new morals from them, somewhat different from the old familiar ones in musical presentation Rock, Rock With Old Aesop. The student directors were Ellie Shoun and Rick Gregg. Director was Miss Chisholm. 82 83 84 58 PL6I — yddM hl L Showtime ’74 The 1974 Follies were held this year the second weekend of May. It was a combination of skits, songs and musical numbers. The money that was taken in went into the lighting fund. Connie Rustandi was the guest spot this year, with her imitation of Louis Armstrong. The three teachers who worked hard to make the follies a success were Miss Chisholm, Mr. Carroll, and Mrs. Pustelnik. 86 87 88 89 Somewhere Over the Rainbow The prom was held on Saturday, May 18th, 1974, in the high school gym. The banquet was at St. Mary's Gym with the mothers of the junior class assisting. The music was provided by The Clouds of Joy. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Arendt led the Grand March at 11:30. After the prom, the various couples either enjoyed the show or else went bowling. The breakfast was held at Ryan School to end the perfect night. 90 91 92 Mini-Courses v This was Bronson’s second year for holding minicourses. They were held March 28 and 29. A wide variety of classes were offered to the students. Among these were such classes as cards, guitar, decoupage, Mexican foods, macrame, leathercraft, photography, gym activities, bike hiking, ice cream making, canoeing, fondue, field trips to Kalamazoo and Tri-State, cake decorating, discussion periods, pizza making, embroidery, knitting, and crochet. New classes offered this year were karate, scuba-diving, yoga, and terrarium building. 93 The Drama Production Class at B. H. S. puts on a play or a series of plays every year. Students, teachers, and concerned people from the community work hard all year on Saturdays and after school. This past year a glass crusher was purchased.
