Dedication Administration and Classes Seniors Sports Activities CONTENTS Dedication The Class of 1951 is proud to dedicate this volume of the Viking to the men and women in the several branches of the armed services. We are mindful of those partiots who have held high the torch of liberty during those historic struggles which have passed and those who today fight tyranny in far away lands. We are not unmindful that it may be the lot of our generation to serve our great country with the force of arms. To our noble heroes of the past, the present, and the future we dedicate this book. Jim Nowak Prtudmt The Bronson High School Student Council is one of the most important activities in our school. The Council sponsors the interscholastic athletic program, school parties, an extensive assembly program, and a number of activities for students who must remain at school during the noon hour. Regulations for wearing school sweaters, award letters. and arm stripes has been worked out to guide students, was reviewed by the Board of Education and unanimously approved. Membership badges were provided this year for the first time in place of membership cards. The Student Union Membership badge admitted the wner to athletic contests, parties, and assemblies. The Union has also taken an active part in helping to keep our school home clean and neat. Admittedly there is still room for improvement. However, considerable has been accomplished toward measuring up to ur ideal. Jim Nowak Student Council - AfcAl- Row I Phyllis Fo . Drlpbme owi ki. She has a very busy schedule, but her work is done on time, accurately and efficiently. Mrs. Muriel Brower, who is in charge of the hot lunch program has been with Bronson High School for 4 years. She is better known to the students as “Ma . With the help of 20 girls they are able to prepare very luscious meals. Among the best friends to students are the Janitors. Who files open a locker when the key is lost? Who tears down a ventilator to rertieve a girl’s vanity box lost therein? Who keeps tidy the place where students live? Who does a hundred other things to help students? Students really appreciate the fine service of bus drivers who get us to school safely and then home again each day. Marie Tripp Seventh . jrrty l. On the second day of September, 1947, seventy-five very serious faced freshmen enrolled in B. H. S. It was their first encounter with Senior High School, and they were not too sure of themselves, but under the careful direction of Miss Dora Anderson they got through all right. The Freshman Initiation was indeed a life saver and helped them to get better acquainted with the rest of the B. H. S. students. As sophomores with Mr. Moyer as advisor, the class sponsored many sandwich sales in order to earn money. Class rings were ordered in the fall and the class became known as the class of 1951. When the clas sof 51 started school as Juniors they were indeed very busy students. They sold refreshments at all home games, and sponsored two bake good sales to add to their treasury. The Junior play, Grandad Steps Out netted $232.99, breaking all previous records. A well stocked treasury helped a great deal when it was time to put on the Junior and Senior reception, the theme was South Pacific. Mr. Hilton was our class advisor. As Seniors fifty-six members are still with us. Of the fifty-six graduates, eight have been together all through school. They are Betsy Hilton, Buz Littlefield, Jean Hollister, Ronnie Hartman, Dorothy Laughry. JoAnne Bawden. Betty Nelson, and Nancy Fair. Janean Honeywell was chosen D.A.R. girl. As the Viking goes to press, the big topic among the Seniors is the four day Skip-trip planned aboard the S.S N. American. The trip will start at Chicago, visit Mackinac Island and Sault Ste. Marie, and end at Detroit. The air is also buzzing with ideas about the Junior-Senior reception which promises to be a most enjoyable occasion. The climax for the class of 1951 will be the Commencement Exercises. May 31st, and at long last a High School Diploma. The award is made on the basis of a point system which applies to all inter-scholastic sports. Bronson is proud to be the first to win this award in a very close race with our traditional rivals, Quincy. The trophy was presented to Mr. Hilton, our Athletic Director, at a special assembly. We are now faced with the challenge to win this award three years in order to place it permanently in our trophy case.
