A yearbook's purpose is to recall memories of the Junior and Senior High School years. These remembrances may include special things you did with your friends or classmates -dates, parties, lounging in the halls, homework - and also the big events - Homecomings, Proms, Games, and Banquets. The annual staff invites you to look through the Warrior '77 and enjoy the memories we have preserved. 2 The 1977 Warrior is dedicated to Joe Cupl who has contributed so much to Broken Bow High School For twenty-six years you have taught us, guided us, shown us your creativity and humor. You have been a devoted teacher but also a friend to all and we will always remember you. . Special friends Kai Laikio - 1976-77 Foreign Exchange Student This year's foreign exchange student is 17 year old Kai Laikio. He is a Junior and lives in Tampere, Finland, a modern city of 170,000 people which is located in the southern part of the city. Kai's hobbies include photography; he has his own dark room and develops his own prints. Kai is a glider pilot and had made 56 flights. He also enjoys hunting, fishing and playing volleyball and tennis. Although he is undecided about his future career he knows that he would like to have his own business where he could be self-employed. School is very different here Kai says, if you don't want to study hard you can take easy subjects. In Finland everyone takes the same 11 subjects. He likes the idea of moving to different classrooms except that he must always hurry. All things considered he likes school better here. He will stay about three months at the home of Allan Woodward, Loren Jacobsen, and Loren Hirsch. Kai is a colorful and interesting foreign exchange student and he says he might like to come back when he is grown and live in the United States. We're sure there are many people who hope he does and that he will always remember his stay in Broken Bow as a wonderful time in his life. 38 PAGE SPONSOR: S.E. Phone 872-2128 169 Along life s road we realize that we all need someone. Someone to help us, to listen to us, to understand our feelings and problems. We need someone to enjoy life with us. A friend is all those someones molded into one special person. We are friends. We have gone through high school together. We have studied together, laughed together, lived together in this high school. We have come to know each other well. We are friends. We have lockered side by side. We've been buddies on the team, we've consoled each other over hard tests, and given confidence and encouragement. We are friends. We have squeezed every bit of happiness that we possibly could out of the times we ve shared together. But we have also shared the hard times, the defeats and the put-downs. Locked away in our treasure chests are the memories - both good and bad -memories that we will take out to remember now and then. Another year is over and some of us will be leaving high school behind forever. Time doesn t wait. It keeps on moving and we cannot go back to the year behind us.
