The youih of today live in a world that is characterized by rapid scientific and social changes. For this reason the role of the school is more important than ever before in helping shape the future. It is my hope that each member of our student body may be able to look back on the days in B.B.H.S. and recall many pleasant memories and satisfying experiences. These recollections should be pleasant memories accompanied with a realization that they were a pan of preparation for a prosperous and meaningful life. I am sure that this yeaook will serve as a valuable collection of memories. R. Hanson, Superintendent Congratulations to the Annual Staff and the Class of 1975. MEET OUR FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT Cesar Ruelas is a foreign exchange student at Broken Bow High School for 1974-75. He is sixteen years old and conies from Los Mochis Sin., Mexico. The population of this town is about 120,000 people. Los Mochis is a town located on the west coast of Mexico about 100 miles north of the Tropic of Cancer. The climate, becasuse of the sea, is hot in the summer and mild in the winter. Basically, one can swim the year around, except for the coldest winter days. Cesar's family consists of his parents and a twelve year-old brother. His father operates a cattle business and supermarket. Cesar compares American and Mexican schools and comments: American and Mexican schools differ in many ways. The principal difference between them are - (1) Mexican students spend the day in one classroom, while American students go to different classrooms. (2) Mexican students do not have a lunch period. However, between each class they have a rest period of fifteen minutes. During this time they can go to the cafeteria and eat, play, or study. We asked Cesar how he liked being a foreign exchange student and he said: Last year when my mom told me about the exchange program, I took the chance and I'm here now. The most important reason I wanted to be an exchange student was to learn how other people live and speak - I wanted to learn another language. It's great to be an exchange student. I'm really delighted to be here in Broken Bow, and I'll always thank the families who I stayed with, my teachers, and my schoolmates for all the help they have given me. I won’t forget this time here in all my life. u
