Beverly Baker The band under the direction of Mr. Stanley Johnson is also a very active organization. In past years it has participated in many contests and has received many trophies for its excellence. A few of these contests include the Harvest of Harmony in Grand Island, the Pershing Marching Contest in Lincoln, Band Day also in Lincoln, and the District Music Contest, which takes place in early spring. Besides contests the band puts on many concerts and football half-time shows. It also helps keep school enthusiasm by playing spirited songs at other games and rallies. 5

DEDICATION We, the Warrior Staff of 1971 are proud to dedicate this annual to the Broken Bow School’s Music Department. This department which consists of two sections, band and choir, plays a very important and essential part in making the Broken Bow school system one of the finest in the nation. Beverly Baker The choir under the direction of Mr. Gary Dobbins is very active. During the course of the year it presents many excellent concerts which usually include both classical and popular songs. Each year the choir like the band participates in the District Music Contest. It has in the past years brought back many excellent ratings from this contest. The choir has for several years put on a musical production for the community such as LIL’ ABNER, and BYE BYE BIRDIE. These productions have turned out very well, and brought in many favorable comments from the community. 4

ALMA MATER In the state is Custer County With its hills and valleys fair to see; There rules the queen of all the prairie, In sovereign majesty. CHORUS: Both purity and strength her colors, Blazen forth upon her banner bright We’ll honor them, and love forever Our glorious Red and White. CHORUS: Beverly Baker Then hail to thee our Alma Mater, Hail our high school ever true and strong, Accept as gifts upon thy altar The tribute of our song. Broken Bow, Broken Bow, She's the greatest high of any that I know, Always pressing onward may her glory ever grow Our honored Alma Mater, Broken Bow, Heigh-O. 6
