(ihc Published by The SENIOR CLASS of BROKEN BOW HIGH SCHOOL Bow, Nebraska jhiri’Uuiri) It is with hope and anticipation that we, the Annual Staff, present the 1968 Warrior to you, it is by your judgment that our success or failure is determined. We have strived to narrate for you the story of the 1967-1968 school year in such a way as to kindle your memories in years to come and we have endeavored to portray the characteristic aspects of this school year so as to differentiate it from years in the past or of the future. Therefore if we have succeeded in capturing the moments you would like most to remember in this school year we will rest assured that we have accomplished our duty. i ©able of ©onteti Sntrfiburtitm Abmmtetratinn JFarult j Mentors Unhertlassmim 1 ©njanteatuin Artiluttes Athletics Ahtoertisinij Bebiratinn We, The Senior Class, gratefully dedicate this Warrior of 1968 to the Service Staff of the Broken Bow School System. MUNICIPAL BUILDING OUR ALMA MATER In the state is Custer County With its hills and valleys fair to see, There rules the queen of all the prairie. In sovereign majesty. Chorus: Broken Bow, Broken Bow, She's the greatest High of any that I know; Always pressing onward, may her glory ever glow; My honored—Alma Mater, Broken Bow, Heigh-O! Twenty-five percent of all the people who ever lived are alive today. Within your I lifetime this will become fifty percent. . The work week has been cut fifty percent since the turn of the century, : and will be cut in half again by the year 2000. Will you be able to handle _well your leisure time? THE SENIOR STORY by Lois Peterson assisted by Kay Pirnie and Nancy Jo Brush In those days a decree went out from Miss Henrietta Johnson of Custer and Mfs. Erma Daily of North Park that the kindergarten populous of Broken Bow, Nebraska of 1955 should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment when George M. Miller became the Superintendent of Broken Bow Schools. And all went to be enrolled, each to his own grade school. And those in the northern region went to North Park, and those in the southern region journeyed to Custer. And after a time of mgs and rhythm bands the time came for the delivering of the children into the hands of the first grade teachers. And much merriment and joy took place in the southernmost region where a great circus was produced by the first graders. And it came time for the passing of the children to the higher grades and the teachers were filled with fear. And the first grade teachers said to them. Be not afraid; for behold, we bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all people; for to you is passed this day in the city of Broken Bow the greatest class in the history of our schools. And this will be a sign to you, that by the time they are graduated in ’68 they will have accomplished many great works”. After the grade school teachers had taken their charges upon them, the junior high teachers said unto themselves, Let us now take this famed class and see what great works they do perform . Now soon their voices came to the sixtn graders of each separate region, the North and the South, and said, Rise and go forth to the meeting grounds of Broken Bow Junior High School . And a great number, 78, rose and went, but there came much wrath and jealousy between the two groups until they learned to study and live together in peace. And this tribe of Indians” became known as the seventh graders, and their works were famed throughout the land. And when the teachers had taught them thus, they made known to the eighth grade teachers the wonders of the children. And they who heard it wondered at what the teachers told them. And at the end of their eighth year they looked from the stage of graduation to the promised land of High School. And the children grew ana became strong, filled with wisdom and the favor of their teachers. Then King Virgil Korte summoned the class into the green Land of Freshmen. He saith, Here is a good land; a land of opportunity. Follow the star that you see yonder and you will find great reward. To lead the class onward a chieftain, Joel Miller, was chosen. His aides were Bill Adams, and Debbie Wrignt; and his representatives to the Court Council were Teri Cook and Steve Dean. Shepherd Kenneth Withee next led the class under his staff into the land of Sophmores. The chieftains in the second year were Bill Adams, Bill Catchpool, Beverly Keller, and Patty Collins. Linda Schneider and Greg Miller were representatives. Wiseman Jonathan Sweenie led the class on a pilgrimage through the year of junior reign the star still led the class and they brought forth gold in the shape of class rings. And also was brought forth frankincense to the reigning seniors in the form of a gala festival called, Fantasy Under the Sea. Myrrh was bestowed upon an audience in a dramatic presentation of No More Homework . Laurels were also conferred upon the class for their winning homecoming display. The Chieftains for the year were Greg Miller, Ken Stephens, Kay Pirnie, and Bev Keller. Representatives were Debbie Wright and Bill Adams. Following the star, the class came unto the Region of Seniors, and was led by the Prophet Joseph Cupl. The Chieftains were Bill Adams, Joel Miller, Marlene Johnson, and John Books. Representatives were Mike Smith and Beverly Keller. And when the decree went forth that Homecoming was drawing nigh, a royal court was chosen and King Gary Knoell and Queen Patty Collins reigned over the festivities. Prophet Cupl did tell that it had been the greatest class ever. And all who heard it did not wonder. And at the end of the tyelfth year each class member went his separate way, but kept in his heart all that he had learned. For he would now follow his goal ... His star. CLASS FLOWER ... Cristina Andrujovich What words can I say other than those that express my gratitude? Yes, thanks to all for everything: the families, the school, the teachers, the friendships, and finally to Broken Bow and the entire community. All have contributed to making me feel at ease in the myriad things that I thought would be strange and different. I was somewhat afraid at first to step into this new way of life. However, I did not know that in the midst of all this I would have a feeling of great satisfaction and an enormous surprise. It was to see that all extended their willing hands to help me in my new experiences. For all this, thanks, a million thanks. Sharon Cotter School classes in Austria are very different from in America. In Austria teachers go from class to class and each year in high school students take the same courses. School is in session six days a week and on two days from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Students take an average of seventeen subjects per year. There are three classes per week in subjects such as: geography, music, piano, German, guitar, sports, philosophy, biology, physics, chemistry, art, history, and math. •Sharon (Cotter Sharon Cotter iln Austria Tenth Grade class with their pinata- Kathy Hoobler and Holly Arnold' (Oases tie (jjspantfl SENIOR SPANISH CLASS: Jean Beal, Debby Purcell, Michelle Burke, Dick Hoffman, Kathy Hoobler, Susan Grady, Christina Andrujovich, Tom Miller, Judy Jeffries, Holly Arnold, Donalee Spivey, Marianne Evans, Beverly Keller, Nancy Jo Brush, and Leslie Lomax.
