Happy Hours! . by Marilyn Iohnson September 9, 1948 Dear Egbert Last night was the first big affair of the opening school year. This was the shing-ding given exclusively for the little ones, namely, the freshmen. Mr. Cramer, Mr. Iacob, and Mrs. Russell were the weary sponsors, and from about 7:30 to 9:30 chaos reigned. Games were played to break the ice. Dancing and candy bars were later enjoyed. So-long!! Egelsteen October 5, 1943 Dear Egbert: Hello again! l went to a doin's last night. Quite an affair. It's the local band-party that l'm implying! Dancing and dining. Hh, two and a half hours of toe-stepping-on! The food was very good, provided thoughtfully by the Chamber of Commerce. No accidents occurred, although the floor shore was slick. Be Seein' You, Egelsteen. October 20, 1948 Dear Pal Egbert: My letters are coming thick and fast be- cause of all the school activities we're having. Hnd do we love 'eml Last night, the school was honored with a dance. Kindly sponsored by the juniors. There was a large crowd there and the two hours passed too quickly. There was a door prize, a yellow, rubber, quacking duck, won by Gerald Sloggett. Useful for hunt- ing, or for a decoy. Bye-bye for now! Egelsteen Page 10 October 26, 1948 Hello, again, Egbert! Did you ever crash any parties? It's more fun! While out taking a stroll with a pal of mine, we saw the lights and banners out for the FFH-Fl-IF! party. So we thought we might watch for a wee while so 1 could tell you all about it. But while we stood there, everyone was so very kind to ask us to join in the dancing. So, we just couId'n't refuse! fNor re- sistl But it was a lively party. Miss I-litchrnan and Mr. I-Iuntzinger were the swell people who sponsored the affair, and who also let us crash the gay dance, by the way. We thank you! For awhile, everyone enjoyed the dancing. Then Ted McMillan and Donna Sorter organized games. One, The Highland Fling, just wore me out! H lunch of soft drinks and doughnuts was served.
