Class Prophecy The year 1963 and once again the Senior Class of '48 have entered the well-known portals of Broken Bow High School. As our eyes wonder over this quiet and dignified group of persons present, our eyes first fall upon Dr. Paul Carothers and Republican candidate for the senate Dick Cox quietly discussing politics. We also find present at this great event ranchers Bill Teahon and Ed Gracey, partners of the Lazy U Ranch . The industrious cowpokes employed at the Lazy U Ranch are none other than Dean Horn, Bob Hall, and Ward Fair. A few miles down the paved highway we find the Dapper Dude Ranch owned by Carol McGraw with her foreman, John Taylor. Models Evelyn Teahon and Ruby Parker have just hurried in, dressed in the latest styles from Peggy Simonson's Style Shoppe, The Wonder Wear . Not to be out-done in that newest look , the Shea Department Store, with models Frances Sebesta and Doris Johnson are well represented here. Their magnificent coiffures are the exclusive styling of Marianna Chappell. Discussing some of their latest writings are poets Howard Longfellow Spencer and Charles Whitney Harriger. One of Howard's latest poems is Love's Latest Lyrics. Pilot Dean Martin just flew in with passenger, Lorene Cole, missionary from India. The stewardesses on this plane are Betty Dill and Wanda Myers. It was a long trip but 'hey couldn't miss seeing old classmates again. Kenny Eacker has been quite busy in Hollywood the past few years. Van Johnson has retired you know. Mrs. Lyle Bates, the former Bonnie Hodgin, and seven sons arrived from Lillian to be with old friends. Since leaving B.B.H.S. Bernard Bendowsky has put his soul into his work. Maybe the shoe business has much to do with that or maybe it's his private secretary, Nora Phillips. Driving the Beardsley Taxi Service, is Dor-win McCaslin with one of his regular passengers, Shirley Beardsley. D.A., Leroy Diz Moore with Sheriff Jack Nelson are busy keeping law and order in Broken Bow. These Indians keep getting on the war-path. As more guests arrive we find Band Leader Francis Adams and his Broken Bow Boomerangs with swoon crooner Bill Reneau to entertain us. They appear nightly at the 6666 Club owned by Ed Kenoyer and operated by Dean Wood. Oh yes, Edna Ingraham and Irene Griffith, both talented singers are with us. After several years in sailing the seven seas and tramping many a foreign shore. Marine Ben Heskett has returned to B.B. as the Burlington Hotel proprietor. One of his most elaborate rooms is reserved for engineer Charley Talbot, who has found the reconstruction of the Brooklyn Bridge a great problem. Some of Broken Bow's own prominent citizens, former members of the Class of '48 begin to arrive. Among them are Laverne Applegarth Page 20
