Class History It was in the year nineteen hundred and forty-four, in the month of September, that four and eighty aspiring juveniles presented themselves at the portals of Broken Bow High School. All unsuspecting, B. B. H. S. opened their arms and admitted them to their fold. They comprised the freshman class of 1944-45. Sponsoring this class were Miss Wright and Mr. Journey. Executive duties were carried by president, Ken Eacker; vice president, loan Wurzbacker; secretary-treasurer, Dorothy Reed; and sergeant-at-arms, Ruth Miller. Being freshmen seemed to have absorbed all our attention, for it seems that we did not engage in any social activities until the last day of school when a class picnic was enjoyed at Devil's Gap. September of 1945 found this same group, still green but hopeful, enrolled as sophomores. As a diversion from dissecting and solving theorems, we held a class dance in the old gymnasium. This was the year in which we served at the Junior-Senior Banquet. The boys portrayed Arabian waiters and performed sword dances. As a result of many stirring campaign speeches, our class officers were president, Florence Wooters; vice president, Lyla Books; secretary-treasurer, Lois Vose; and sergeant-at-arms, Charles Talbot. Our sponsor was Miss Foy. Our junior year was filled with activities with one objective, the Junior-Senior Banquet. The football season was highlighted for the juniors by the inevitable class meetings on Friday nights which always concluded with the drafting of vendors for cokes, Candy bars, apples, and doughnuts. At Christmas time we presented an entertaining play, Growing Pains. This play was under the capable direction of Mrs. Miller. Our efforts, and those of our mothers who were drafted as chefs, were rewarded by a very successful banquet in the spring, carrying out a gay-nineties theme. The year was wound up by a class picnic at New Helena. Directing all these activities were our president, Bernard Bendow-sky; vice president, Ed Kenoyer; secretary-treasurer, Joan Russell; and our sponsor, Mr. Adams. At last the enviable position was reached. We were seniors . . . With our membership decreased to sixty-four, we set forth on our final year in B. B. H. S. Our class activities have included making plans for commencement, ordering announcements and pictures, and editing the annual which is under the guidance of Mr. Adams. Representatives of our class are president, Lyla Books; vice president, Ben Heskett; secretary-treasurer, Paul Province. Our sponsor is Mr. Adams. And with commencement we set our feet on the paths toward the new worlds we have long dreamed of conquering, but no matter how far these paths may lead us, the memories of Broken Bow High School and associations with our classmates will always be with us.
