As the last day of school drew to a close on May 27, 1970, students of Broken Arrow High School cleaned out lockers, gathered up long-lost possessions such as notebooks, library books, winter coats, sweaters, and gym shoes and departed for three months of carefree summer fun. But before those lockers were cleaned many memories lurked in their depths-memories of classes, tests, term papers, football games, basketball games, wrestling matches, and baseball games. Homecoming and the parade-victory dances-the Christmas door contest-assemblies with the class yells ringing out loudly and clearly-the Senior play-the Junior play- Out of This World with the Pow-Wow-activity trips-contests and concerts with the band and chorus-these were all part of our memories. And then there was the day the Tiger Beats won the AAA State Championship at Oklahoma City, and the day the baseball team brought home first place in the Six Lakes Conference. Many other memories are a part of the past school year-memories of new friendships made and goals and ambitions achieved. For 2416 of our students May 26 was the culmination of twelve years of work, study, and fun as their high school careers drew to a close. These will not return to us next year but will go forth to make new memories in many areas of endeavor. With these memories in mind we present the 1970 ARROW LIFE in hopes that within its pages we have captured the many pleasant and happy memories which belong to you, the student body of Broken Arrow High School, of 1969-1970. 7 i f Q ff , A Q y w -1 - i. Gerald Duke Frances Kashwer Ed Whitworth Counselor Counselor Assistant Superintendent In Charge of Instruction Adequate and effective counseling plays an important role in the lives of students at Broken Arrow High School. Two full time counselors are employed to aid students in enrolling in high school courses which will best meet their individual needs, and to aid students in selecting further training or schooling following graduation from high school. Helping students secure information concerning scholarships is also an area in which our counselors are of great assistance to our student body. Another familiar face around Broken Arrow High this past year was that of Mr. Ed Whitworth who has been meeting with various departments of the school in order that the needs and goals of each area of the curriculum might be studied. The purpose of these meetings is the upgrading and improvement of education for Broken Arrow students. Joe F oster, President Earl Simmons, Vice President W. C. After two losses to Muskogee and Claremore, the Tigers returned to the field to hand Tahlequah a 141-0 defeat. The following week the Okmulgee Bulldogs won a hard-earned victory from the Tigers which required more effort and concentration on their part than any other game of their season.
