Membership in the National Honor Society is based upon Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character. To be eligible for membership, a student must maintain at least a B semester grade in all subjects. A list of all qualifying students is passed to all classroom teachers, who rate them on Service. Leadership, and Charac- ter. A scale is then prepared showing from the highest to the lowest according to the teachers' rating. During the Sophomore year, 4070 of a class are inductedg another 4070 during the Junior yearg another 4070 the Senior yearg thus 12070 of any one class may be members by the end of the Senior year. Any member who fails to maintain the B semester grade or falls down on any one of the other virtues mentioned above is automatically dropped from membership. It is indeed an honor to be a member of the National Honor Society. Each year the F.T.A. spon- sors a Teaching Career Day. On this day, Future Teacher members take over the classrooms of the regular teachers in the junior high and the elemen- tary schools for the purpose of actual teaching experience as an aid to career planning. This program has been in effect for the past five years and has been termed successful by both the partici- pants and the administration. This year over 80 Future Teachers took part in this fine program.
