Ultimate goals for each student who enrolls in these courses are good health and a well-developed personality. Training in family life education is stres sed so that each student may learn to live more satis- factorily. This department offers basic training that may be applied to many professions and vocations, such as nursing, dietetics, industrial demonstration, interior decoration. styling and modeling, dressmaking, and commercial food service. These boys learn how im- portant it is to keep accurate records even down on the farm. V06'f4f!0!Vf4l f46'15'!6WlfM9f The Successful Farmer of Tomorrow Is the Future Farmer of Today. Vocational Agriculture is the teaching of scientific agriculture on a vocational basis. In keeping with the principal of agriculture, the science taught is practical because learn- ing by doing is stressed. The first requirement for enrolling in agri- culture is an intense agriculture interest. Second, a desire and willingness to develop a farming program, owned andrnanaged by the student. under the supervision of the teacher and parents. These requirements are a must. The four years of agriculture instruction is based on problems in livestock, crops, soils, and farm shop. The courses offered in this department include: Vocational Agriculture I 9th Grade Vocational Agriculture II 10th Grade Vocational Agriculture H1 llth Grade Vocational Agriculture IV 12th Grade The boys at left are learning of the many publications which are available to lend assistance to their farm program. Many of these publications are made available through their department.

M' LCIUMWWV Distributive education is a part of the vo- cational training program provided by the Broken Arrow High School for juniors and seniors who are interested in entering the various fields of business distribution upon graduation. This training program establishes a co- operative relationship between the school and business, whereby the student trainee attends regular classes in the morning, andhas a part- time occupation for the afternoon. One hour each day the student attends the DE class where he studies related subjects such as proper job attitudes, getting along with people, selling techniques, merchandise information, advertising, and display.Inaddi- tion to this class, the student is enrolled in two or three other regular high school classes. All DE students are members of the DE Clubs of America. The club has various pro- jects and activities throughout the year. The two highlights of the year are the vocational banquet, sponsored co-operatively by all the vocational departments, and the annual DE convention which usually lasts three days.
