6'17f!Wf5'f1?l' This science deals with the composition of matter, the reactions that matter undergoes. and the man's attempts to control these re- actions. An understanding of Chemistry is essential in the fields of engineering, med- icine, and scientific research, and is also valuable in many other fields of study or occupations. Chemistry students Bob Bowden and Rodney Armstrong seek help from 'he chart of atoms. PHYS! 5' Physics is a study of matter and energy. The course is divided into fields of mechanics, sound, light, electricity, electronics, and nuclear energy. This science is recommended for those interested in engineering or science careers. One of Mr. Wilson's physics tests causes wrinkled brows in this 2nd hour physics class. Physics students Sue Dotson, Bob Bowden, Lawrence Pense and Robert Vogt set up equip- ment for a physics experiment.

HIIIWAIV PHl'J'!0M6 l' For those students who are interested in advanced study in the field of science, Human Physiology is offered to juniors and seniors. This course is also taught by Mr. Kirk and is the study of the forms functions and normalities of an or anism Biolo B - - SY is usually required as a prerequisite forhuman physiol- ogy. Students spend much of their time in the laboratory and gain valuable experience dissection and analysis. They learn to take blood counts, blood tests and have the opportunity to learn of such scientific methods as an electrocardiogram. Also among their helpful and valuable experiments are tests for high blood pressure and diabetes. At right Nancy Scott and louise Patterson demon- strate their skill with dissection tools for our photo- grapher. HXHZUHI' Biology is the study of animal and plant life and is helpful in Lmderstanding nature that surroimds us in our daily life. Biology is offered primarily to sophomores and may be used as one of two years of required laboratory science. This course, under the able guidance of Mr. Gerald Kirk has much to offer the student of our high school whether he plans further education after high school or not. M,4!'HffWf4!76'.5' He who knows not mathematics cannot know any other scienceg and what is more, he cannot discover his ignorance nor find its remedies. --Bacon Students should be aware that we are living in a truly scientific age, yes, an age of atoms, satellites, and exploration of spaceg and mathematics is a basic requirement for all physical science courses and for many technical professions. These students are enrolled in the new SMSG math' course being taught for the first time in Broken Arrow High. Mr. O. R. Wilson explains a math problem to two high school math students.
