Jumwnni The Big Top The circus has its Big Top Made of canvas, taut with ropes, And underneath it shelters A brood of childish hopes. Life, too, has its Big Top With its canopy of stars And you and I as well as the rest Are the acrobats on bars, The bareback riders, the laughing clowns, Each one must play his part As Time, the Master of the Ring, Snaps his whip for the show to start. So give it the best that's in you For it's only a one night standg And there'll be no repeat performances- By reason of popular demand. by Wilma W. Burton We, the Senior Class of Brockway-Snyder-Washington Joint High School, are proud to present The Dawnn of 1953. The clamor and din of the circus tent have provided a back- ground as colorful as many of the experiences which we have had during our training period. If printed pages can bring back the sleepless excitement of the night before the big parade down Main Street, then, perhaps, you can share our enjoyment as we thrill to past familiar scenes as reproduced in this book about the Greatest Show on Earth, 'our high school. For their finale the class of 1953 appropriately stand in the center ring for the acclaim they justly deserve. We, The Dawn staff and the entire Senior Class, want to extend our deepest appreciation to the people of Brockway and the surrounding communities for their generous support of this production. We also wish to thank Mr. Robert Merriman for the fine photography, Kurtz Bros. for the printing, and Zimmerman and Company for the engraving. Mr. John McNulty As a tribute to his never ending encouragement and confidence in us, we, the class of 1953, wish to dedicate our issue of the Dawn to a member of our faculty Whom we have admired throughout the years. He has sincerely directed our learning along the lines of democratic principles as a teacher and a class adviser. Many traits of character and personality have endeared him to us. We will long remember his Wise and Witty Words, his tireless Work, his friendly smile and his encouraging word when we needed him most. Words cannot express our deep feeling and appreciation for him but we take this wav of showing to him our sincere gratitude.
