To the Graduates . .. LASS GF 1949 Congratulations to the Seniors on achieving this important goal. You have completed your education in the public schools of the United States of America and you are now ready to enter into the duties of citizenship of an important world community. 'Your teachers have been striving to impress upon your mind ideas and ideals which will direct your life into the channels of successful living. To that which you have gleaned from your instructors is added this ideagin some mysterious way a person's great accomplishments have resulted from the transmission of ideas from one generation to the next. The influence of your personality may persist for centuries and its effect increases rather than decreases as time goes on. You are not only influenced by others but your influence extends far beyond what you can hope to see. 'You are leaving school in the middle period of the twentiethfcentury which marks your generation as the stepping stones to the new era. Enter upon this task with the firm resolve to make a worthwhile contribution to the wellfbeing of your fellow men. There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortuneg Omitted, all the voyage of their life Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
