rama Club inn -. . le x'xv5'n. v P, U- DRAMA CL L'B With students involved in set design and construction, lighting and sound, wardrobe, makeup, props and publicity as well as acting and directing, the Drama Club is one of the High School's activities with the most to offer. The 1987-1988 season was the busiest ever. The year started off with the December Pro- duction of The Matchmaker , a Thornton Wilder farce. In january a second senior show, the drama Twelve Angry Women , was put on, followed by the February youth theatre produc- tion. The Gondoliersn, a one-act adaption of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, was selected as Brocl-tton's entry in the Massachusetts High School Drama Competition in March. Making this a special year for the Drama Club was the fact that Brockton was chosen as the host site for the 1988 New England Drama Festival, a three-day extravaganza in April where the top twelve high school plays in New Eng- land were presented. Wrapping up the year was the annual spring musical. Due to the students' hard work and dedication, this season will go down in Drama Club history as an especially productive and memorable one. - By Robin Webby DRAMA CLUB TECHNICAL CREW The Technical Crew, or Techis , are the backbone of all B.H.S. Drama club produc- tions. These hard- working students design, cre- ate, and operate the sets and lighting essential to every show. The unsung heroes of the Drama Club, the Techis, pass up the chance for fame in Hont of the footlighrs in exchange for the satisfaction of making every production look flawless and pro- fessional. -' I . With over 5700 students at Brockton High, it is difficult for any one student to stand up and make a difference. Luckily, there is an organiza- tion such as the Student Senate that is willing to take a stand in order to promote change. This year, under the guidance of newly ap- pointed Advisor Robert Magee, the Senate has become a potent organization willing to tackle any task. The school year began with an Orien- tation Assembly sponsored by the Senate. The assembly was designed to acquaint freshmen with the many extra-curricular activities avail- able at the High School. Student representatives of various organizations took part to make the assembly a success. To improve the effectiveness of our student government, the Senate formed a committee to revamp its present constitution as well as draft a brand new constitution for the S.A.C. Under the framework of these new documents, student government at the high school will take on a more prominent role in the lives ofthe students. The student Senate must also address student controversy over school policy and offer solu- tions to student concerns. This year the Senate presented two proposals to the administrationg one which would allow students to wear shorts during the hot weather, and one which would allow students with an A average the option to not take finals. The Student Senate has taken a more promi- nent position in Brockton High School, and with the groundwork set forth this year, 1988-89 should be a productive year for both the Senate and Brockton High. - Steve Solari and Sarah Homer Student Senate -Q gl STUDENT SENATE: OFFICERS: Andy Ashmang Sarah Homerg Christine O'Keefeg Steve Solari.
