THE BH CLASS OF 19 6 REFLECTS BACK Freshmen Year, it seems like such a very long time ago when we apprehensively first step foot through the doors of Brockton High. We were all a bit leary, we did not know what to expect. Would we fit in? Would we find our way around the massive buildings? But soon things began to piece together, and we felt more and more comfortable everyday. With the help of our friends and the large helpful fac- ulty, BHS became our second home, and we felt as one with the sense of pride that flowed throughout the school. We all came to the realization that Brockton High had so much to offer. To us, the students, it was a microcosm, a smaller version of the outside world. It contained all that the real world had to of- fer. Our main purpose was to pick and choose, and decide what was best for us. Everything was there for the taking, our job was to take it. No one could show us how to be our individual selves, we had to find out through ex- periences, such as different friends, classes, and activities. We knew that the next four years would be a hunt for our own spe- cial personalities. In our Sophomore Year, no longer inexperienced Freshmen, we ventured forth and became more involved in our surround- ings. Many of us participated in school government, while others found their niche in the various assortment of specialized clubs and activities. Our class became a responsible one, and began to sponser annual events such as flower sales and dances. During this year, we established our- selves as individuals and became more self-confident. We looked to the upperclassmen for guid- ance and leadership. As Juniors, we were suddenly faced with the thoughts of col- lege and careers. Most of us stepped back and took a good look at ourselves and the person- alities we had discovered and so carefully molded in a short three years. We were happy with our- selves and what we had become, a unified and strong group of in- dividuals. Academically, this year was most important to us. We collectively dreaded taking the SAT'S and Achievements. Further into the year, all our hard work and studying had paid off. Our sense of pride was lifted to the top when the Boxers charged to victory at the 1985 SuperBowl held at Sullivan Sta- dium. Also, the Junior Prom awaited us. It was a night of ex- citement to all of those who at- tended. We realized we were up- perclassmen now and we knew that Senior Year was on it's way soon. And finally, Senior Year. It crept up on us before we knew it, and left us before we could grow to appreciate it. This year was certainly our most memorable but it was also our most melan- choly. We knew that we soon be leaving the protective grip of our second home. The personalities we so carefully nurtured would soon be put to the test. Being the eldest of the four classes, we set examples for the lower class men and guided them through their new beginnings. X f 4 A j ,' .' ry , ia i Our high school days are be- hind us now, and we are looking toward the future. Each of us will follow our own path that life has mapped out for us. We can all glance back at our years at BHS and see our development from young adolescents to mature and responsible adults. We are now able to meet and overcome life's many obstacles, and ready to de- velop our own individual lives. Our four memorable years at Brockton High School is just the first headline of a great many more to come. Bobbi-Ann Ruggiero
